NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans said first-round draft pick Michael Griffin, a safety from Texas, could line up anywhere in the secondary.
When he takes the field as an NFL player for the first time Friday, however, he'll be easy to spot.

"We are going to line him up at corner," coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday.

Griffin played most of his college career at safety. But going into the draft the Titans were one of several teams who thought he was capable of making the switch to corner at the next level.

So did Fisher draft Griffin knowing he would be playing him at corner? Was he better than what was left of cornerbacks at the time?

i think Griffin had a very good college career and he was definatly one of the best safeties in the draft and im sure he could do just as good a job at corner as he did at safety. i think the thing about changing from safety to corner is that he will be more inclined to play up on the line and be a deep cover reciever rather than a man to man marker and to be honest i think thats what we need, we need someone to add another dimension to the pass rush and we DEFINATLY need someone to add to the deep coverage threat because no matter how good out defense was last season we got beat EVERYTIME downfield...if it was a good pass of course
