| Jeff Fisher Talks About Keyshawn Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the Titans might be interested in acquiring free agent wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson after the coaching staff reviewed film on the 34-year-old. "We are interested in Keyshawn, to what extent I can't tell you,'' Fisher said. ''We'll look at the tape and see where he is.'' ''This is a deal that it could happen and it may not happen, we just don't know.'' The Carolina Panthers released Johnson on Monday after they drafted fellow-Southern California wide out Dwayne Jarrett in the second round of the NFL Draft. Johnson's agent told The Associated Press that the former first overall pick from Southern California has several teams interested in his services and added Johnson would play in 2007. Johnson said he was released because the Panthers wanted to ''get younger''. ''That's fine with me,'' Johnson told The St. Petersburg Times. ''I'd like to go somewhere and help someone win another Super Bowl.'' Fisher said Johnson would be the first of several free agents the Titans would consider to acquire over the course of the next few months leading up to the 2007 season. ''It is part of the offseason process,'' Fisher said. ''Keyshawn is...the first one to be released after the draft, [but] there's going to be a number of good players that are going to be released between now and the start of training camp.'' ''There's a lot of receivers out there right now that were shopped around during the draft that will probably be released at some point,'' Fisher said. ''We're not too awfully concerned about veteran depth at the position.'' Johnson hauled in 70 catches for 815 yards and four touchdowns last season, a season where he became the 16th player in NFL history with 800 career catches. | Re: Jeff Fisher Talks About Keyshawn yeah thats interesting becuase Fishers contract has been up in the air a lot, i THINK he accepted the option for an additional year earlier this season during the turn around from 0-5 but that was during the Reese era so im not sure how Reindfelt is going to handle it, i would think he would be sensible and say "im gonna wanna keep the fans on my side so ill keep the coach they love" but this guy has made so many wierd decisions so far i dont know what will happen in terms of the 'who makes decisions' front it would seem as though it is the way you say vince, that Reindfelt holds the cheque book and says "ill go out and get the players and you coach them" but i dont like Reindfelt so thats maybe why i think its like that |
