Post Jones Will Appeal Season-Long Suspension

Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones said Friday night he will appeal his season-long suspension and thinks NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made him the league's poster boy for disciplining players. Jones has not talked to reporters since the suspension for conduct detrimental to the NFL was announced Tuesday.

Re: Jones Will Appeal Season-Long Suspension

think hes got a case? i can see his point that Goodell DOES want to make him the poster boy for bad guy NFL players and i dont blame him for that nor do i say that what he does doesnt deserve a harsh punishment, but do you think it deserves a season long suspension? possibly an 8 game suspension coupled with cumpolsary anger managment and AA meetings or something like that?

it is nice however to see his team mates sticking behind him, i was shocked to see that Kyle Vanden Bosch has become a close friend of his and rings him constantly, not really the two people you would expect to be close but its times like this that shows a real team unity and that is one thing i love about this team

Re: Jones Will Appeal Season-Long Suspension

If what I read and heard is accurate, i think he may have a case. Goodell was tired of all the bad publicity. He knew he had to do something, so he made the "conduct detrimental to the NFL rule. He suspended them for a rule that was never in place. He made it up then enforced it on who he wanted.

I am not saying I agree with Pacman. I believe he is a headcase and needed some sort of repercussion. I just don't like the idea of making up new rules in the middle of the game. I would hate to one day get pulled over for speeding and the cop tell me I had to go to jail because they just made a new law that 5 MPH over the limit is now a felony.

Re: Jones Will Appeal Season-Long Suspension

yeah i totally see your point azrael, i mean fair enough if they had charged them and then created this new rule that would have been partly acceptable but you cant create a new rule and then enforce it in the harshest way possible on the league's most well known bad boy, i admit he has been acting like an idiot but that doesnt mean he should be treated differently and much harsher than anyone else just becuase the new commissioner wants to push his weight around and try and say "this is what im all about, mess up and you get the chair etc etc"

He does make a vaild point, he hasn't been charged with anything. I can see goodell not wanting the negative attention and yes pac has acted stupid, but he does have a point. Theres no question he should be punished but maybe a year is too harsh, Im all for goodells new slam the hammer down approach to off field crimes and violations but you cant implement a new rule and apply it to past events. First let the rule be known and anyone who violates it in the future can be punished to that extreme. I thinks thats the fairest approach anyway..

That is what I was thinking. If he wants to have a zero tolerance policy, let everybody know up front. Tell them if they get caught with a bagfull of money with strippers and guns, they are done for the year. This way just makes him seem like he is reacting because people want him to.

Cool Re: Jones Will Appeal Season-Long Suspension

You can't blame the Players Association for appealing, but what will be telling about Pacman is how he behaves if he loses.
