Post Rating the 2007 draft wide receivers

Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson is the best of a talented receiving bunch. In fact, he's so good he could be this year's No. 1 overall pick.

Re: Rating the 2007 draft wide receivers

the Titans are likely to...or really should draft a Wide reciever in this years draft but due to the vast selection of players and high draft pick we have who do you guys think we should draft? or who would you like to draft?

Re: Rating the 2007 draft wide receivers

Obviously, Johnson's the creme de la creme, but he'll be off the board way before the Titans pick. I'm high on either Jarrett or Meachem, both of whom don't seem to be all that attractive to scouts for some reason. I'll admit that Meachem was not all that impressive during the college football skill challenge (slowest 40 time among the skill position players), but I like his hands and his balance. Jarrett, on the other hand, was pure playmaker at USC but his dedication and coachability have come under question.

Re: Rating the 2007 draft wide receivers

what about having Vince Young as a QB, will that make a difference to the kind of wide recievers we draft? i mean Meachem is a slow reciever but Vince is a scrambelling QB so we could draft a slow reciever becuase Vince can move around in the pocket to allow the recievers time to get open, so does Vince being the kind of QB he is effect the kind of WR we will draft or is it all down to the recievers numbers?

Could be. Meachem isn't supposed to have bad speed, either, according to a lot of the scouting reports I've ready about him. I was really impressed with him this past year (think he's a lot of the reason Erik Ainge looked so much better, but that's another topic for another thread). You guys still have Norm Chow, right? That leads me to believe Jarrett will be the pick, because of the similar offense and the ties to the Trojans. Some people have the USC receiver as the #2 guy in the draft on sheer physical talent, but most I've seen have him down around #4-5 overall because of work ethic and attitude questions.

As I remember Steve Largent was slow...(I am thinking between 4.7 to 4.9 slow) and he had a Hall of Fame career...sometimes there is more to it then a stop watch...

You got any sleepers their Lefty?...Any late rounders that might suprise?

Hmm... afraid not. Didn't get to watch as much small-time college ball this year as I would've liked.

Meachem ran a 4.3 40 in the combines. Awful fast for a big man.
