Henry is Titans' No. 1 concern
Knoxville News Sentinel (subscription), TN - Feb 15, 2007
Henry is due an $8 million bonus in March and is under contract through 2009. The Titans want the former University of Tennessee standout back but need to rework that bonus into a more friendly, long-term deal even with an estimated $36 million of room under a salary cap of $109 million in 2007.

He ran for 1,211 yards and seven touchdowns, fifth in the AFC and the best season by a Tennessee running back since 2000, when Eddie George had the best year of his career.

"Our desire is to keep him there," said Henry's agent, Hadley Engelhard.

Underwood had stayed in contact with Engelhard during the Titans' five weeks between the resignation of Floyd Reese on Jan. 5 and Reinfeldt's introduction Tuesday. Engelhard is expecting to start talking with Reinfeldt next week and start negotiations for a six-year veteran who turned 28 on Oct. 29. Injuries limited him to 182 combined carries in 2004 and 2005.

"Take away two of the six years; his four-year numbers are up there with the best of them," his agent said.

"I think he brings some stability to the backfield in Nashville and really is going to help Vince Young continue to develop because of his experience. Vince Young can feel comfortable with him behind him, knowing he has someone behind him to run the ball and block and make plays when they need to."

Re: Travis Henry contract

Sounds like all parties want to work something out to keep Henry in Tennessee, so I think it's safe to predict that the deal will get done. What do you guys think? And what does re-signing Henry long-term mean about the future for LenDale White?

Re: Travis Henry contract

i think that with Vince being the future of the team there are 2 things to be addressed..getting a batch of good receievers and most importantly having a good, secondary outlet for him meaning..a good RB. so by re signing Henry it takes off some of the pressure of Vince to make the throw or run the ball all the time and i dont think we wil see Henry being pushed into the shadows, i mean Vince has a 500+ rushing season but Henry still got over 1,000yards anyway.

i think the situation with LenDale is that passing him by in draft would have been very bad but i think that his injuries have really hurt him from progressing this season and i dont think we can see what hes like yet, i would say give him a season or 2, see what his ability is like and then make a decision, but at the moment we cant really make a decission on if he is a good or bad player

Post Remember this Titan (Yahoo! Sports)

INDIANAPOLIS – Travis Henry could become one of the more desirable free agents if his agent and the Titans can't restructure his contract.
