Titans DB coach leaving for Golden Gophers

Everett Withers decided Wednesday to accept the defensive coordinator’s position at the University of Minnesota.

Withers, 43, had served as the Tennessee Titans defensive backs coach for the past six seasons. He was hired in 2001 from the University of Texas after Jerry Gray became the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.

Withers reunites with an old Texas coaching colleague by joining the staff of new Golden Gophers head coach Tim Brewster in Minnesota. An official announcement of his accepting of the position is expected today in Minneapolis.

i dont know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. its good because it freshens up the defensive backfield because they are still pretty young so i assuming none of them would be 'set in their ways' about playing the game. however its bad because the backfield seemed to do well this season so a total change around of coordinators might mess things around a bit, but i suppose since he has come in so early hopefully we will get in a new guy soon and he will have time to work and gel with the team.

i guess only time will tell on this one
