Bonds says he's sorry? Really?

If the Raiders or 49ers go shopping for a free-agent wide receiver, here's a name to consider: Drew Bennett.

Bennett, a Miramonte High School graduate, is headed for unrestricted free agency after six seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

At 6-foot-5 and 206 pounds, Bennett is a big target with plenty of speed to get deep. He's no Jerry Porter or Randy Moss, but that's a good thing.

The Raiders, in particular, need no introduction to this former Miramonte and UCLA quarterback turned NFL wide receiver.

In 2004, Bennett caught 13 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans in a 40-35 loss to the Raiders.

In 2002, Bennett faced the Raiders twice, first during the regular season then in the AFC title game. He caught a combined nine passes for 133 yards and two scores.

In his lone game against the 49ers, Bennett caught five passes for 52 yards in 2005, helping Tennessee capture a 33-22 win.

Bennett led the Titans in receiving this season, catching 46 passes for 737 yards and three touchdowns. Not bad considering he spent much of the year playing with a rookie quarterback, Vince Young.

Re: Drew Bennett free agency

Bennett's a free agent? Will he re-sign with Tennessee or go elsewhere, you think?

Re: Drew Bennett free agency

he better sign a damn extension or there is going to be hell to pay ha ha.

no in all seriousness it would be a great loss to the team because he has been a great reciever and led the youthful reciever core with a real vetran attitude, but to be honest i wouldnt be suprised if he left. with Vince coming in now and his choice to throw to several recievers rather than having a favourite he might be inclinded to go to somewhere like Oakland where it wouldnt be a shock if Joey Porter and Randy Moss go somewhere else and he would be the primary reciever, plus if he choses Oakland or San Fran he will be back on the west coast and for those of you who know about Drew he prefers being closer to home, thats why he opted to go to UCLA instead of Princeton to play college football.

however on the opposite side Drew has been with this team forever, he is a vetran reciever and i dont think coach Fisher is ready to leave his catching all up to his rookies becuase Vince needs a reliable outlet, so if they do keep him they will hopefully give him a worthy contract that will keep him here. plus we are a team on the up and we are going to be pushing for the super bowl next season and onwards.

like i said it would be a real loss not only for the team but for me personally because i like Drew and think hes a great player but like i said i wouldnt be shocked to see him leave if the contracts not in his favour but if he does stay i shall be getting my first Drew Bennett jeresy to recognise his loyalty with the Titans
