Titans GM vacancy leaves free agents in limbo
Free agency doesn’t begin until March, but the Tennessee Titans’ unsettled front office situation has many agents keeping an eye on the team already.

The Titans will have approximately $40 million in cap space to spend, but the question is who will be spending it in the wake of general manager Floyd Reese’s resignation last week.

Director of pro player personnel Rich Snead is running the department in the interim, while the Titans compile a list of GM candidates and decide whether or not they want to redistribute the powers Reese had among more than one person.

Michael Harrison, the agent for defensive tackle Robaire Smith, said Tuesday that while it is early in the process in terms of free agency, the fact that the Titans are in a state of flux in terms of major personnel decisions, has him wondering exactly where Smith stands with the franchise.

“We’re in a little bit of [limbo] right now, but I’m sure they’ll have somebody in place fairly soon, by the end of January or the first of February, in order to get things in place,” Harrison said. “There are a lot of things that will have to be done, not only talking with the unrestricteds, but talking with the restricteds and tendering them.”

Anyone think the GM vacancy will cost Tennessee any of their free agents?

i think if we had a lower salary cap then it would be easier to let some players slip into free agency because no head coach wants to have to deal with agents and contract negotiations etc etc...but with such a higher cap i think it will be easier for who ever has to deal with it until we find a new GM, to just renegotiate some players contracts and get it all sorted, but i believe providing who we have as possible free agents or who we may loose will be a major factor come next season, i mean that if we loose some important starters through free agency next season wont go as smoothly as we think unless we bring in some VERY reliable people to replace them which is something that didnt happen a few years ago and thus we were reduced to buliding a team from scratch again
