| Titans Norm Chow Wants Head Coaching Job Norm Chow said Monday that he has never dwelled on the fact that he has coached for more than 30 years without being a head coach. But now that an opportunity to perhaps be a first-time head coach at the highest level has presented itself, it is something he would cherish. “I have never sat around aspiring to be one,” Chow said in addressing a gather of the Phoenix media. “I was taught a long time ago there are two types of assistant coaches: Those that aspire to be head coaches and those are content to do what they are doing. There is a need for both, one is no better than the other, and there is nothing wrong with either one. I have chosen to work as hard as I could. However this opportunity has presented itself to at least be a chance to be one and it is something I would really look forward to.” The City Paper - Smart, Fast, Free

| Re: Titans Norm Chow Wants Head Coaching Job what is most concerning about this situation is that everyone is strongly focused on the fact Chow has interviewed for the position, i have read quiet a few articles about this and they mention 6 people interviewing for the job, but the man that is always singled out is Norm Chow, maybe becuase of his openess to be a head coach? maybe because it will bring him and Leinart back together? or maybe just becuase they had lunch. but the media is putting such a spin on it that its almost done already. but im not to worried about Vince's progression if Chow leaves, the difference between Vince and other QB's is that being a runner he can break plays and make yards on his own, if we had a pocket QB who relied only on the plays being called we would have a problem but because Vince is learning how to be comfortable in the pocket, read the defense and run if he has to, there isnt that dependecy that if the play doesnt go how you want it to you have no other choice but to give up on it

| Re: Titans Norm Chow Wants Head Coaching Job well i guess i should bite my tounge becuase from the looks of recent events the Card's are more concerned with OTHER coaches rather than Chow himself, the thing im curious about with this is that if Chow DOES stay with us how will that effect his relationship with the players and personel? i mean its gotta be hard for a team to take orders from someone who has made it openly well known that he wants a coaching job and actually interviews for another team, of course he is following his heart and hopes to achieve something he has been longing for a while but will this not just create tension with the team if he stays? |

| Re: Titans Norm Chow Wants Head Coaching Job i think the problem with assessing if Chow is head coach material is that he has only ever been head coach at USC. had he come into the NFL as a head coach and not a coordiantor than it would be eaiser to assess his credability as a head coach but college football is not the same as the NFL so i think its harder to go "college head coach-NFL coordinator-NFL head coach" than going "college head coach- NFL head coach- NFL coordinator" people are obviously saying that Chow is the reason why Vince is playing the way he is but can you honestly place every ounce of Vince's success down to one man's influence over 6/7 months? i think Chow is a good offensive coordinator and people say he is great with working with QB's, but i dont think he is quiet right to take the burdon of an entire NFL team and lead them as a head coach, but like i said had he come into the league as a head coach instead of an offensive coordinator it might have been easier to make a judgement |
