Titans have high hopes for 2007

NASHVILLE — For the first time in three years the end of the Tennessee Titans' season was considered a beginning.

"Over the last couple of years there was not much to carry over other than just losing seasons, injuries and salary cap difficulties," coach Jeff Fisher said. "This offseason we have an awful lot to draw from — a young team that learned to win close games many different ways, whether it was offense or defense, and a young team that learned to win on the road the last three road trips we were victorious.

" ... That's where excitement comes from."

Led by rookie quarterback Vince Young, a resurgent running back in Travis Henry and an opportunistic defense and its catalyst, the enigmatic Pacman Jones, the Titans shook off the worst start in 22 years (0-5) and fought back to respectability. They won six straight before a season-ending loss to New England this past Sunday and finished 8-8, which meant they won one game fewer than the previous two seasons combined.

"We should certainly be a playoff contender next year," Jeff Fisher says in this article. Not only should they be a contender, but I see no reason why there shouldn't be playoff expectations, not just hopes, for this team in 2007. What do you guys think?

with the team we have a think we can be definate playoff contenders for the next few season providing the salary cap doesnt cripple us like it has done in the past and with Vince leading the way i dont see to many problems in our way, but i do see some.

the first being the division we are in, i dont see the Texans being much of a threat for a while but being in a division with Indy and the Jags is definatly hard. the second problem is that we have a good starting team in offense, defense and special teams, but we dont go too deep in certain positions so for example with the O line, even though they did well this season its not to much of a comfort when your switching players from Guard to Tackle and then bringing in first year players to start on the line, i just think we need some more depth.

other than that i dont for see to many problems, we have a good run game now with Henry and Young. im hoping this will be LenDale Whites year to excell and prove that people were wrong to pass him up in the first round. our passing game is improving with Roby, Wade, Jones, Scaife and Hall posting good numbers this year and taking some heat of Bennett and Troupe to make all the catches. and our defense is slowly improving but like ive always said i think we need some more height in our defensive backfield becuase we get burned to many times on long passes

so 2007 looks like a good year...i hope
