Post Travis Henry - Comeback Player of the Year candidate?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Travis Henry started this season wanting to make a big comeback. It's safe to say the Tennessee running back has accomplished nearly everything he sought.

Even if not many people are paying attention.

The six-year veteran running back should be a top candidate for NFL Comeback Player of the Year for reviving his career after two subpar seasons at a position where fresh talent floods the league every year.

Henry has rushed for 1,109 yards and seven touchdowns this season for the Tennessee Titans despite starting only 12 of the last 13 games and not playing in two of the first four games. And Henry still has one game left to reach the 1,300-yard goal he set for himself before the season.

Re: Travis Henry - Comeback Player of the Year candidate?

I love how Henry's turned it around this season, and in a lot of years, he would be considered for this award. But not this year. You've got Drew Brees and Chad Pennington coming back from shoulder surgery, you've got what Jeff Garcia's done in Philly... just too many good candidates. Does Henry have a shot at winning this award, in your mind? And if not him, then who?

Re: Travis Henry - Comeback Player of the Year candidate?

as much as i think that Travis has had a great season this year i just dont think hes had the all round, season long playability to get the comback player of the year but you never know who they could give the award to, i mean i thought Kyle Vanden Bosch was a definate to get that last year and he didnt, the problem is that awards these days are based more on stats than what the player has done in individual games, what he has done for the team and the team he has around him, i mean any guy can win the award if he is surrounded by Pro Bowl stars, but show me a guy that plays like a champ when he is in a developing team of rookies and first year players and you will see someone deserving of an award
