Titans to keep McNair through '06

The Associated Press is reporting that Tennessee has paid a $1 million fee to keep QB Steve McNair for the upcoming season, but has decided against picking up a $50 million that would have kept him a Titan through 2009. Considering that McNair, according to the AP report, "will take up more than a quarter of the team's salary cap space" this year, was this really a good move?

I'm kind of surprised that Steve McNair will be a Titan this year. But it reinforces that the Titans will take a Young QB in the 1st round. Steve will be there for a year to help the new guy get acclimated to the NFL and hopefully we'll be on the way to growing the future Tennessee Titans roster.

I think I saw mention of the other TN Titan QB, let me dig that up...

Looks like Titans backup quarterback Billy Voleck is under contract for 2 more seasons.

Which amazes me, Ross. I was impressed with Volek, and I figured someone would come calling with a trade offer. He could start somewhere, don't you think?
