Young redefining QB position
The Courier News, IL - 1 hour ago
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Norm Chow knows a thing or two about quarterbacks.

Vince Young is showing him something he's never seen before.

"I think he can almost, corny as it sounds, he can redefine what the quarterback position should be like because he's so big and he throws the ball well and he can run," Chow said Wednesday of the Tennessee Titans' rookie quarterback.

Want to accelerate the development of a quarterback in the NFL?

The Titans have done just that by pairing an offensive coordinator with a history of churning out Heisman Trophy winners with a physically gifted rookie. But Young has surprised even the Titans with how quickly he has learned, and he's very self-motivated.

"Basically, it's a work in progress for me. I'm not finished yet," Young said.

Re: How good can Vince Young be?

This article goes on to say that Young has "seemingly unlimited potential."

He's definitely a spectacular player, but I wonder... just how good do you guys think he can be?

Re: How good can Vince Young be?

i think the problem with VY is that i dont think he has anything else to show us, we know hes got a strong, fairly accurate arm, something everyone said he didnt have during the draft and he most defintatly has the scrambelling ability, the question is more like when will he get his first MVP award and Pro Bowl selection because the VY we have now is the VY of the future, he will just continue to get better, all i believe will happen is that when we get in some more reliable WR, WHICH I THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THIS YEARS DRAFT!, he will continue to improve his arm:
guess its easier if i put it like this

Vince Young's Stats, Alex Style:
Arm Strength: 7/10
Arm Accuracy: 7/10
Scrambelling Ability: 9/10
Leadership: 8/10
Composure: 9/10

all that Vince has to do now is turn those into 10/10 and he will be cool, the one thing i really like about how well Vince has developed is that he came into a very bad team, i mean lets face it we were bad when we drafted him, and yet he has excelled with a makeshift O line, 3rd string TE's, and 1 reciever with reasonable NFL experience, and yet he has become one of the best players of the season, in my eyes atleast

Titans: Critic says Young has much to learn
Jackson Sun, TN - 37 minutes ago
ESPN's Merril Hoge has been an outspoken critic of Young even before the Titans drafted the former University of Texas star in April.

Hoge is not budging, at least not based on what he's seen from Young's first 10 NFL starts.

"You have to keep things in perspective," Hoge said. "For people to say he is where he needs to be, that's dead wrong. He has a long ways to go. I will never bury the guy and say he has no way to get it done, but I am not going to change my opinion based on what I have seen so far.

"From what I have seen on tape, he still doesn't understand coverages. That doesn't mean in the next two, three years he won't get to that point, but it is still a 50-50 shot in my opinion.

"People who say he is the second coming ... To say now it is just a matter of putting the football in his hands and let him win is just ludicrous."

Re: Titans: Critic says Young has much to learn

Here's sort of the flip-side of Young; as Hoge points out, there's obviously still work to be done. But hey, he's a rookie. It's unrealistic to expect him to have NFL coverage schemes down pat already. I agree with alex's assessment on the whole. Young is a special talent, a little raw, but with seemingly unlimited potential.

Re: Titans: Critic says Young has much to learn

He is not a guy likely to be racking in MVP awards, but in the playoffs in a big game... I like our chances with this guy carrying us on his shoulders in the big game...
