Re: Titans Kicker Rob Bironas

Dan Dierdorf just interviewed Bironas on CBS, and asked him what the longest field goal he'd ever made was, at any level. Bironas' response? "You just saw it." Ha ha! Thought that was funny. The dude has a heck of a leg, no doubt about it.

Re: Titans Kicker Rob Bironas

you know i have always had my doubts about Bironas because he never seemed like a secure placekicker, it always seemed like the slightest 1mph wind would mean his field goals end up 10 miles away from the posts, but this season and in particular the last few games when he has needed to step up, he has and done one hell of a job, i mean kicking a 60yard field goal is hard, throughout this season the team has opted to punt instead of attempting a kick this long, but he was called upon today and he really did a great job, of course now ive said that hes going to miss his next 40 field goals but he's done the job so far and im glad thanks rob

Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas enjoying back-to-back winning ...
CBC News, Canada - 12 hours ago
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Messages packed Rob Bironas' cell phone by the time the Tennessee kicker got to the locker room, and people haven't stopped calling.

Voice mails, text messages and e-mails with good wishes keep pouring in for the sixth kicker in NFL history to make a field goal from 60 yards or longer. He's only the third whose kick won a game, in this case, 20-17 over the rarely beaten Indianapolis Colts.

If you're still waiting to talk personally to Bironas, be patient. He was working his way through the messages Wednesday. ``This is one of those moments that doesn't happen ... just because of field position. It's a last-minute kick. Most coaches aren't going to put you in that position unless there's no time on the clock and a game-winner,'' Bironas said.

``Just for the opportunity to be put in that position and attempt that kick is a great feeling.'' But the man who took a meandering path to the NFL isn't about to be distracted now. He kicked at two colleges, in the Arena Football League's minor league, with two more AFL teams and three NFL training camps before finally landing with the Titans. ``I need to go out and make field goals this week,'' Bironas said.

A strong leg and his dream of playing in the NFL is why Bironas is here today, and why he's clinched the Titans' improbable comeback victories in each of the past two weeks. He kicked a 49-yarder with six seconds left to beat the New York Giants 24-21 on Nov. 26 and followed with his 60-yarder against Indy. Those game-winning field goals are only the third and fourth of his two-year NFL career because the Titans (5-7) haven't given Bironas many chances to kick for victory. He nearly had a fifth on Nov. 12, but had a 43-yarder blocked with 42 seconds left in a 27-26 loss to Baltimore.
