Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

Does he have the potential to become a great one?

He looks like he can be the next Vick really, so do we define Vick as a great one? Im not exactly sure, we will see where the Titans go and if they build around Vince to his needs to succeed

Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

i dont get what people's obsession is with comparing Micheal Vick to Vince Young, yeah Vince may have looked a lot like Vick when he was in college but he was so far played in 3 games for the Titans, 2 as a starter and it is obvious he has matured since college and realises you cannot run over the best football players in the world as easily as you ran over some of the best college players in the country. i mean he has gained some 60 yards rushing, comapred to Vick who gets 100+ in most games. i personally think that Vince will become the next McNair, but on a greater level and i think that he will easily emulate his mentor given time.

peyton manning is a QB for a generation, like all the other greats, i think looking back in 40 years time people will remeber Manning, Warner, Brady and Farve and i think Vince is going to be one of the best QB's of MY generation.

Their is no obsession, this is a pretty valid observation looking at their styles of play. Vick can run over everyone thats why he does it. Vince is being protected by the coaching staff right now, wait until he develops he will become a scrambling type QB...their is no reason not to use his athletic talent to help dominate the game

Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

i agree that if a QB has the ability to run over everyone he should and your right thats exactly what Atlanta are doing with Vick, all im saying is that i dont believe Young is going to become one of those players, Jim Mora Jnr is a coach that like his games at 150mph so he allows Vick to have the run of the game but Coach Fisher is a more conservation, sensible type of coach and i dont believe he will be allowing Vince to go off on a run about whenever he feels like it. i mean McNair was a scrambelling QB but you never saw him exceeding 100+ rushing yards every game.

the problem Vick has is that he doesnt trust his recievers, i mean i watch a Falcons game a few weeks ago and it was mentioned over and over that Vick likes to throw to Crumpler...fair enough...but when i saw him trying to get EVERY pass to Crumpler i was thinking, so in Micheal Vicks head it has [RUN or throw to Crumpler] cos to be honest thats all he was doing.

all im saying is that i cant see Young becoming a Vick player and at the same time i cant see Fisher allowing him to become that type of player either

Exclamation Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

You say Michael Vick can run over everyone eh? Well that is why he gets hurts all the time. He cleary gets big hits to him as if he was mike tysons younger day punching bag. Vince is going to be balanced. They want to use him to throw and run too. He needs to throw a little more than running. Bobby Wade, Ben Troupe, David Givens, Drew Bennet, and Bo Scaife are great receivers. They don't want him to run and get hit all the time. r going to compare him to michael vick then look where he is now. He cant run over nobody....he gets hit so much he needs to throw........oh wait he never threw a ball in his rookie years so he won't have good accuracy.
And that's THAT. And this forum is about vince and peyton. If peyton is under pressure he can't do nothnig . Vince is better bye...

Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

While you mak a good point about Vick getting injured, he hasnt missed extensive time for 3 years now. Vince was not drafted to be a pocket passer, look at McNair under Fisher. He had something like 2000 yards rushing and 20 rushing TD's in his first 4 years as starter. Fisher let him do his thing, and defenses feared him. And he averaged over 400 yards a season for the better part of his career. As far as Peyton and Vince, I think many will agree Peyton is probably the best QB of our time. Vince has promise so I wont refute that Vince is better but I think it would be jumping the gun to say Vince is better than Peyton as we stand now.

Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

I can't see a Peyton with Titans x Fisher! I belive that Vince'll be better than McNair. I think we'll win SB's with Vince, I don't belive that Colts will with Peyton (Peidão [in Brasil eheheheheh]) - He can't play on pressure!!

Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

Look just last year Peyton went 22/38 for 290yds and a TD against Pittsburgh in the playoffs (0 ints) If not for loud mouth no show Vanderjagt they win that game, and they reason they lost was not because of Peyton. Every game hes no gonna blow up the defense for 40 points, especially in the playoffs when you face the best D's. He put his team in a position to contend in the game. Peyton is working with even less this year, (-Edgerrin James) so lets see where he goes this year

Cool Re: Will Vince become as good as Peyton Manning?

He reminds me more of McNaab then Vick. When Mcnaab first came up, he wasn't an accurate passer and did most of his damage with his legs. Vick was always a runner first and then a passer. I think Young will improve his throwing just like McNaab did and only use the run when he has to.
