Haynesworth Press Conference

The Albert Haynesworth press conference just ended in Nashville. Do you believe that he's really sorry? Does it make a difference either way?

Re: Haynesworth Press Conference

Here's the basics on what happened at Albert Haynesworth's press conference about his stomping Dallas center Andre Gurode and the 5 game suspension.

Albert sniffed thru the whole press conference. He seemed really emotional the whole way thru which reinforced his repeated comments that he's "an emotional guy."

He said he couldn't explain why he did it. He says that when he watches the replay, he can't believe it's him. He sounded like he felt the worst when he was on the the phone with his son who asked "Did you do something bad?" and he replied "Yes, Daddy did something very bad."

He commented on all the talk from forums (like us) and how many people say that the fine isn't much money to him. He said that $190,000 IS a lot of money to him but it doesn't compare with the respect he's lost. He said he'd give anything if he could just take it all back.

Quote:
"Now Albert Haynesworth is known for something despicable, just not for being a good player or the face of the NFL like Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens for that matter. It's known for this incident, so I know I lost a lot of respect."

"My goal is to get back, work as hard as I can and just bust my butt on the field and try to earn that respect back from everybody."
The target of his attack, the Cowboy's Andre Gurode, will not press charges and will not miss the Dallas Cowboys - Philly Eagles game this weekend.

The media asked if he'd talked to Gurod and Haynesworth said yes. He said the 1st thing he said to Gurode was "I can't begin to say how sorry I am" and then Al said the rest is between Gurode & him. He said Gurode is welcome to share as much or as little as he wants but Haynesworth isn't going to say anymore.

Former Titas QB Neil O'Donnell was at the conference as a member of the local media. Neil basically offered words of support as "one player to another" and didn't really ask a question.

Re: Haynesworth Press Conference

This had to be a tough moment for Albert, but the rest of his career will be a lot better if he always remembers how he felt today.
Albert is a Pro-Bowl level talent whose career hasn't been what it could have been to date due to injuries and lapses of self-control. Hopefully, this time, the message has gotten across.

It doesn't really matter that he says he's sorry. He did what he did and now he must deal with the consequences. Throughout his NFL career, he's made some poor decisions. Hopefully he can start making some right ones.

PUH-LEAZ. He'll be able to prove it with about 8-10 years of model citizenship within the league. I doubt it, but GOOD LUCK!
