Titans sticking with Collins

Despite an 0-3 start, Titans coach Jeff Fisher isn't looking to next season and the future starting quarterback of the franchise yet.

Fisher told reporters Monday that he's sticking with Kerry Collins as his starting quarterback against the Cowboys on Sunday, despite reports that Tennessee was soon ready to hand the reins to No. 3 overall pick Vince Young.

"Kerry's our starter and if you want to see if Vince is going to play, you're going to have to watch the game," Fisher told reporters. "He got plenty of playing time the first couple of weeks. I am prepared to put him in the game if we feel like it's necessary. This particular week, I wanted to get Kerry in there, get him into the flow, give him a chance to put drives together and not interrupt drives or interrupt continuity."

ok, apparently i have to revisit the fire Fisher thread

Young may as well start and learn, and Fisher needs to go

Cool Re: Titans sticking with Collins

I think Fisher is making a mistake putting him in for these little gadget plays. Either play the guy or don't.

The duo never works...1971 Cowboys rotated Staubach and Morton for the first 7 games and went 4-3...they gae Staubach the nod the rest of the way and they won the Super Bowl and he won the passing title.

So much for the dual system.

Re: Titans sticking with Collins

This makes no sense to me. Why stick with a veteran unless you have a shot at the playoffs and he gives you a better chance to win. Tennessee doesn't, and Collins doesn't. Young is raw but explosive, and running the team will give him plenty of much-needed experience, especially calling plays, managing the team and running the two minute drill. Vince should be starting.

Re: Titans sticking with Collins

I would start Collins and then play Young in the later part of the game to get experience, just because I dont think Young is ready enough for the starting position. Maybe later in the season after he gets more experience start him but not yet. Its too soon in the season.
