Vince Young To Start

Is Titans rookie quarterback Vince Young ready to start?

There was a rumor that came from espn about Vince making his 1st start against the Cowboys at LP Field but I don't think that will happen. Since VY didn't play last week against the Dolphins, I can't imagine that he'd be starting in the Cowboys vs Titans game.

My bet is that we'll see him get his 1st significant playing time against the Redskins and make his 1st start against the Texans at LP Field on Oct 29.

Any of you guys think Vince is ready to start?

Nope...and they are going to look even dumber when they kick Kerry Collins to the curve after he replaced Volek to get the rookie in there jsut to save face with their fans.

Re: Vince Young To Start

If they don't play Young against the Texans, then what are they waiting for? A shining star to hit them in the face?

He should already be playing. Kerry Collins starting does nothing for this franchise beside guaranteeing a top draft pick. Granted, Collins isn't the sole reason why they're a bad team, but why not develop the future? And if Young isn't "ready", what have they spent doing all off-season and pre-season?

Re: Vince Young To Start

I'm no Vince Young fan, but it seems to me that this is gonna be a long year any way you cut it. So, if Vince is spose to be our future and this year is gonna pretty much suck anyhow...why not put him in and let him be getting some much needed experience. Seriously, how much worse could it get..we're already 0-3.

0-4, blondeambition13.

Vince Young isn't NFL starting-quality right now. He will be in years to come, but not now. Notice how the Cardinals just made Warner their permanant starter, the same should happen for the Titans with Collins (I would say Volek if they had him).

Don't put him in 'til he is ready.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, blondeambition13, and thanks for joining us. I agree with you completely on this one. Tennessee has nothing to lose at this point, so they might as well put Young in and let him get used to running the whole show. It's gonna be his team next season anyway, so use the rest of 2006 as a dress rehersal. Makes sense to me.

Welcome BA...lost you at "I am no Vince Young fan"...come on now...is that any way to talk about the future of the franchise?...Who would you have taken 3rd overall?...and how much worse can it be?....you can destroy the guys confidence and thus throw that 3rd pick out the window.

Re: Vince Young To Start

they need to start him now he needs to learn what its like to play a full game in the nfl
he played for less than a quarter vs the chargers and did good against one of the best defenses in the nfl
coach fisher should be smart enough to know that vince young needs to play
my guess is that he will play a little in the dallas game
and depending on how he does will decide how much he will play against indy.I'm not thinking he's gonna play much against indy though he'll probably start against Washington and if no that game then he will definately vs. Houston
that my 2 cents

I understand where BA and the other Titan fans are coming from, though, Gotham. They wanted Matt Leinart, not Vince Young, and who can blame them. Leinart makes so much more sense for their offense and their coaching staff. He would've pretty much been able to step in and start at day one instead of having to learn a new scheme. This is one draft pick I'll never understand, even if Young turns out to be the better pro.

Re: Vince Young To Start

I dont think Young will start till either the Jaguars, Ravens, or Eagles just because doesnt have enough experience for the next couple of week but he will start either 7 or 8 games this season. Maybe if he is lucky he might start against the Texans.

Cool Re: Vince Young To Start

Welcome to GoTeamsGo blondeamition and e-todd. Young will not start for quite a while and if you saw that fade pass he threw against the Jets in week 1, you'll understand why.

Cool Re: Vince Young To Start

Well, they might as well start Vince. At least he can run the option and complete a 5 yard pass, which is alot more than kerri collins can do. This young QB of the future isn't going to learn a thing from collins except how to throw incompletions and interceptions and how to look scared in the pocket. At this point, the only way Young is going to learn anything is by doing it himself, you know, trial and error. Where is Billy Volek when you need him?...Oh, I forgot, he's on a winning team now. Way to go jeff & floyd.

Re: Vince Young To Start

Vince Young was asked if he thinks he should start.

Quote:
"I don't know," he said. "You have to see what coach says. I'm waiting on that time. I want to show good progress each week and get better and better as the week goes on."
Coach Fisher said as recently as last week:
Quote:
He's not ready to be a full-time starting quarterback.
Collins will start against the Cowboys but will we at least see Vince get some playing time?
