| Re: Vick helps prepare for Young DAVIE · Emulating Tennessee rookie quarterback Vince Young on the Dolphins' scout team this week wasn't hard for Marcus Vick.
Vick said that Young's quarterbacking style is similar to that of his brother, Atlanta starter Michael Vick.
"Mike and Vince do the same things," said Marcus Vick, a college quarterback at Virginia Tech who is now a wide receiver on the Dolphins' practice squad. "They read [defenses] quick. They're going to break this way and that way and get rid of the ball at the last minute."
Although he won't start, Young is expected to play extensively as a backup to Kerry Collins in Sunday's game at Dolphin Stadium. Dolphins coach Nick Saban said the Titans are developing Young as a pocket passer but suspects Tennessee may be ready to unveil a spread-option package that capitalizes on his rushing skills.
"They haven't done it a lot, but there's enough evidence by some of the stuff that they're doing that it's not far," Saban said.
Vick said he emulated Buffalo wide receiver Lee Evans in practice before Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Bills.
"I know I can play several different positions," Vick said. "Whatever I put my mind to do, I think I can do it. I'm just trying to make my teammates better and help them prepare." Hey, the unexpected value of Marcus Vick...Should Miami really concern themselves with the untested Young at this point in time? |
