Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

I know Bud Adams has recently said that he won't fire Jeff Fisher anytime soon... but the horrible Titans Chargers game just makes me wonder if there are fans and/or people within the Titans organization who would like to see a change in the head coaching position.

Coach Fisher did say that he is the one to blame for the Titans loss and lack of progress over the past 2 years.

Quote:
“If you guys want to place the blame on anyone, put it on me, I will take it.”

“I believe in this team, and I am going to get this team back, period. We are working too hard and we’re a young team, but we are going t keep fighting. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing, because I believe what I’m doing is right.”
Ok, Coach, you're to blame for this mess. So when are you going to get the team back? Are we only going to have a team that contends once every 8-10 years or so?

Who's ready to pull the plug and fire Jeff Fisher this year?

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

I wouldn't fire him right now, but I'd probably do it after the season. He's been there for many years and it's likely just a need for new direction. Bring in another offensive guy who can work with QBs and for their sake, watch Vince Young develop.

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

ok i ask you guys this, what would be the solution to bringing in a new coach now? i mean coach fisher has been developing these young guys for the past few seasons and knows them, they know him, they know how one another plays, acts etc...and they are all familiar with coach Fishers gameplan, so how would it benefit us if we bring in a new coach, with a different system, who the players dont no, arn't familiar with and may not gel well with, becuase of 1 poor performance in the second game of the season using a reletivley unexperienced team?

i say keep him, he cant do much worse than he is now? we can only go forward from where we are now right?

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

All good points Alex but sometimes a change of leadership is needed to freshen things up. Get a new gameplan in town, etc.

The salary cap hasn't been friendly to the Titans over the last few years, granted, and Fisher isn't all to blame but perhaps it should eventually be a mutual break-up.

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

I think Jeff might have to go, but only cause he's the scape goat...he doesn't get to make the decisions. If somebody needs to be fired, I say fire Floyd Reese...course that won't happen cause he's got Bud Adams in his back pocket. Anyway, just my opinion. Either way, it's gonna be a LONG year for the Titans and fans I'm afraid.

Hi blondeambition13, welcome to GoTeamsGo

I think Jeff has a pretty big say in the decisions, as much as most any NFL head coach. And he said he's the one to blame for their performance.

We're both in agreement on the long year part. That is gonna be a lousy year for the fans. Even worse if they run off some of the stronger players like Haynesworth.

What are we gonna do if he demands a trade?

you know what Titan 31 that is a very good point, everyone seems to focus on coach fisher but Norm Chow is the one leading our very poor offense, i mean you look at the last game, he had Kerry Collins throwing over and over and over again when he completed only 2 passes (i think ) in the first half, why didnt he change it up or do something different?? like blondeambition13 (welcome by the way) mentioned, coach fisher is being used as a scape goat for everyone elses mistakes, this is the same coach that took us to the super bowl, but salary cap problems, changes in both player and staff personel and, in my opinion, to much interference from the men upstairs have reduced us to the team we are today

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

Fire Floyd Reece He is the one letting McNairs agent talk to Baltimore. SanDiego beats us 40 to 7 and then they sign our third String QB as the back-up for the green pea who stomped us?? Lets ponder this, also Kerry Collins hails last from Oakland do you think that San Dieago had a chance to sign him before us?? Nah guys the fish stinks from the head down Jeff is not the problem in my humble opinion. Floyd Reece is the man.

Welcome blondeambition. I agree with you. Fisher is a good coach. You can't win every year.

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

no no no...First who remembers when Jeff Fisher took the titans to what was it?? ooo 4 straight playoff appearances and a super bowl!!!! come on!! His first couple of years were a little shaky, but eventually got the team he needed together, and took them to the playoffs, and a SUPER BOWL!!
as we all know the titans we crippled by the salary cap back in '05. and now Fisher and the coaches are all taking all this heat because they can't become a wining team with over half the players being 1st - 3rd year players!! come on!!! the team is still young!! Let Jeff Fisher groom this team and bring them back, as he did in the beggining. and watch as this team, esp with Vince Young, will begin wining more games and eventually become playoff contenders. the problem is, is that no one is being patient with Jeff Fisher and trusting him to get a VERY young team to win ballgames in the NFL.
Keep Jeff Fisher!! he's one of THE best coaches in the league right now!

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

Welcome to the forums ten_titan2003.

A part of me sort of agrees with your sentiments, that the Titans this year are waay too young to compete for any coach. I guess it's a matter of trusting Fisher to develop these guys into a satisfactory cohesive unit over the season.

Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher?

I don't think we need to fire Jeff Fisher anytime soon. We are still rebuilding and this is just a time that Titans are the hot team. Which is why you have a salary cap to make it so every team has a chance to be hot and be not. I think the biggest thing is when they lost Eddie George they lost a leader. McNair was more of a unspoken leader, but think they lacked that player leadership and emotion. Fisher can only do so much. He can't do everything, he can only teach them. It is up to the players to play. I think with Vince Young and his leadership the Titans have what they have been missing. But then you can't just throw him in their because he would get hurt, it's like fresh meat to a tiger. That why Fisher has handed him the keys yet.
