| Re: Who Wants to FireCoachFisher.com? Hi MannyEdge, welcome to GoTeamsGo Nothing there except a way to buy tshirts that say FireCoachFisher.com I build websites & stuff like that so I'd guess it took about 5 minutes for somebody to throw togther. Probably from someone on the other side of the world who's got no idea about the Titans. So what do you think about all this mess and Coach Fisher?

| Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher? I heard on the radio, 104.5. I think the Titans need a new era to start, especially with the franchise quarterback waiting in the reins. I think we need a fresh start. Its starts with Fisher and Reese!! That is my take. Manny |

I'd like to share your optimism but until I see a win, I don't think I'm going to see any light at the end of this tunnel. Look forward to chatting with you more.

| Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher? Were it possible the BEST thing Titan's fans could do would be to take Bud Adams to the dog track, pin a note to his sweater, and leave him there. Then flush the front office. How many times did McNair retool his contract to allow the team to stay under the salary cap? When it became time to pay him back, what did the front office do? Locked him out. I don't think anyone that has followed McNair's tenure at Tennessee could criticize his commitment or dedication. His reward? He's in Baltimore. You have a backup QB that posts the most impressive stats in NFL history for any QB's first 10 starts. He resigns to a lesser contract than offered by other teams in order to remain with your team with the promise that he will be given a shot when McNair retires. Remember he has 10 starts. Then you go out and sign quite possibly one of the worst QBs to retain a starting job in recent memory because of "experience" and throw your former backup under the bus. I'd rather think I'd ask to be traded too. Your team has a #3 draft pick. Your coaches tell you to get guy A because our offensive coordinator has coached him previously. Knows his strengths, knows his weaknesses. Knows he already knows the system. Knows he will be able to contribute sooner. Your front office absolutely loves guy B, because he has built in press. Even though he may not work well in the offensive scheme, may have a longer learning period, and provides some improvisational skills that may or may not be beneficial in the long run. In the end, the front office wins and you get the less desirable outcome as far as getting your draft pick to pay dividends in the short term. All that goes without even mentioning the trend in recent years to trade away experience for youth (and fewer $). Fisher has had input in this but for the most part the other members of management calls the shots. Given the team's history as the Oilers and its recent trends, it appears that money will be spent for talent ONLY when the organization is trying to get something from its host city. Maybe that's not fair because they did put up a boatload o cash for Vince Young. Sorry that's so cynical and to be honest I haven't looked as closely at the operating history of other franchises. Its just that here in my home state, I get to help pay for a stadium that is 300 miles away and get little benefit from it. But that's another story. Suffice it to say that it is difficult to be behind a team that fails in fielding a competitve team in recent years or supporting an organization that gives the impression that it is neither honorable or credible. Removing Fisher only cuts off the face that everyone sees. He has proven that he can coach. Why has everyone assumed he has lost that ability. He's not the problem. He and the coaching staff are working with what they've been handed by the front office headed by the General Manager and Director of Football Operations and ol' Bud. That all appears to be tied to one individual. Here's hoping Young is able to weather the storm as well as Mcnair did in his first few seasons. |

| Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher? O.K. guys. Yes, Jeff Fisher has been a good coach. He's been a great coach. BUT, you don't treat a guy (i.e. Billy Volek) like crap and ride him out like that. It's wrong, period. In the Atlanta pre-season game, #7 went 14 for 22, I think, and threw for 142 yards in one half. You can say well that was just pre-season and didn't count, but it was starters vs. starters. Volek more than adequately backed-up McNair for several years. He knew his role and accepted it. Compare his 1st 10 starts to any other QB in the history of the NFL. In his 1st 10 starts, Volek threw for more yards and had more completions than any other QB in the history of the game. Volek was promised the opportunity to start for this team this year, but coach fisher had to get some hack that couldn't even cut it in Oakland. Hey, bonehead, what were you thinkin'? You know what? So what if Volek left OTA's early? So what that he wasn't at every "required" work-out, none of your other players were at everyone of them either. Coach fisher just ditched the best QB he had. If #7 was under center the outcome would have been very different in the Jets game and the Dolphins game, and the loss to San Diego wouldn't have been nearly as embarrassing (who knows, he might have won that one for us, too). But, the bottom line is that the Titans should be 2-1 now, not 0-3. Thanks, fisher. |

| Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher? What everybody needs to remember is that the Titans/Oilers have never been any good. They have one of the worst overall records in the NFL. The problem is not Jeff Fisher, it's Bud Adams and Floyd Reese. Bud has always paid top dollar for sorry-ass players like Warren Moon etc. and the really good players like Jevon Kearse etc. have to go to other teams to get paid fairly. That is why they chose Vince Young, Bud did not want to pay the big bucks for a good quarterback. |

We were just talking about him over here: http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/tenne...ren-moons.html Looks like alot of people think Warren Moon was pretty good. Look forward to chatting more with you.

| Re: Who Wants to Fire Jeff Fisher? Welcome to the forum, dalezelle, and thanks for joining us. You know, this may be the first time in my life I've heard a Hall of Famer referred to as a "sorry-ass player". Moon was an excellent QB - 4th most prolific passer in NFL history, and until recently, the #1 QB in terms of yardage in professional football history. Granted, the Titans haven't done a great job in the cap era, but they had some good teams and good players in the past.
