Tennessee Titans vs. San Diego Chargers

This week, the Tennessee Titans play the San Diego Chargers. Here's a preview.

Titans face tall task vs. Chargers
By Terry McCormick, Nashville City Paper
September 15, 2006

Two years ago, the Tennessee Titans made an early-season road trip to San Diego and wound up leaving Qualcomm Stadium with a very serious reality check.

At the time, the Titans were fresh off a deep push into the 2003 playoffs, and despite some injuries, a few defections and a 1-2 start, many observers, including the Titans themselves still fancied Tennessee as a strong playoff contender.

The 38-17 beating the Titans took at the hands of the Chargers that October day showed Tennessee to be quite vulnerable and arguably was the start of the dark period the franchise now finds itself in the throes of.

Since that day nearly two years ago, the Titans have won all of eight games. They have not won two games in a row, and in 18 consecutive losses have trailed by double digits at some point in the game.

As for the Chargers, who were a mere afterthought entering that game at 1-2 and coming off a 4-12 season, it can be argued that that game propelled San Diego to contender status. The Chargers went on to go 12-4 and win the AFC West that year.

After a 9-7 season last year, the Chargers were plenty impressive in their 27-0 debut Monday night.

In other words, the two teams are almost 180 opposed to where they were in the last meeting two years ago.
Hmm... so does this mean maybe this time it'll be the Titans pulling the upset? What do you think?

Tough loss for the Titans - San Diego blows them out, 40-7. Collins looked horrible, going 6-for-19 with two interceptions. How about Vince Young, though? 7-of-19 (not good) for 106 yards and a touchdown to Drew Bennett. Think maybe there's gonna be a QB controversy brewing?

Cool Re: Tennessee Titans vs. San Diego Chargers

Lefty:

I didn't see the game. Is it their offensive line that's the problem? Because if it isn't and they're going to be bad anyway, they should just let Young play. But they shouldn't throw him to the wolves if he's going to be obliterated.

Re: Tennessee Titans vs. San Diego Chargers

I was traveling during the game but radio & the Nashville news ripped them a new one.

Titans got outplayed in pretty much every aspect. Were there ANY decent plays/players for TN?

Ah, I didn't see it either, Pundit - we got Browns-Bengals here in Ohio, so I can't comment for sure. But when you lose that bad, really, is there any part of your team that ISN'T part of the problem in some way?
