Re: Titans Lose to Jets

Chad Pennington threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns, leading the New York Jets to a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in the opener for both teams at LP Field.

Pennington, coming off another shoulder injury that curtailed his 2005 season, completed 24-of-33 passes without an interception. He hit Chris Baker with a 12-yard scoring pass with 2:10 left for the go-ahead touchdown.

Laveranues Coles caught eight passes for 153 yards in the victory, as the Jets (1-0) blew a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter before pulling it out.

Kerry Collins completed 17-of-38 passes for 223 yards with a pair of interceptions after being named Tennessee's starting quarterback just before game time. Drew Bennett caught eight passes for 106 yards for the Titans (0-1), who showed signs of life after a dismal first three quarters.

Vince Young made his NFL debut on Tennessee's fourth offensive series and had an early impact, as the Titans marched from their own 36 to the New York 32. Young completed his first three passes for 27 yards, but his fourth attempt was severely underthrown and intercepted by Andre Dyson at the six-yard line.

The Titans trailed 16-0 early in the fourth quarter, but two Travis Henry touchdown runs and a pair two-point conversions tied it with just under six minutes to play.

New York, though, was unfazed and a 41-yard kickoff return by Justin Miller set the offense up at its own 43-yard line. The Jets converted on a short third down before Pennington went deep and hit Coles with a 38-yard pass. Soon after, Pennington found Baker from 12 yards away for the go-ahead score.

The Titans still had plenty of time and marched from their own 26 to the New York 12 with just over a minute left. Collins threw a pair of short passes for four yards, then misfired on the next two to turn the ball over on downs with only 35 seconds to play.

My MVP of the game would be Chad Pennington who currently leads the league is passing yards. Oh wow!

Chad likes to have Cole as a target... I ended up not playing Cole on a lot of my fantasy teams cause I didn't know what Chad was bringing to the table.

Jets suck to me. Curtis Martin isn't big no more. Chad Pennington is really un popular in this league
