The NFL has fined Tennessee defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosh$5,000 for his hit on Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning.
Vanden Bosch said Thursday he knows what the rule is on not hitting quarterbacks around the knees. But Vanden Bosch had been blocked and was going down as he grabbed Manning’s legs in Sunday night’s 31-9 loss to the Colts.

Coach Jeff Fisher, co-chairman of the competition committee, said earlier this week that the rule states roughing the passer should not be called if a player is blocked into a quarterback.

This seems a little ridiculous. Running out of ways to tackle players...

Yeah they are making it so much harder for defensive players to make a play because they have to worry about a flag or being fined. I understand they want to protect the quarterback, but come on. It's football and if you are the QB you have the ball and everyone wants to hit you so you wont throw it. They can't just stop half a second away from hitting them.. Guys are faster so it is harder to slow down. I understand late hits are bad, but they need to let them play. They have enough pads on and their is going to be injuries no matter what, so they need to accept that and just let them play.
