| Rays The Best Team In The East? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
So there I was, watching ESPN and enjoying the show until this insanity comes up. Some reporter comes along and explains why the Rays are the best team in the American League East. Are you joking me! Something about how now they are the most dangerous because they lead the league in runs or something of that sort. Incase some people forgot here are the current standings.
Boston
New York- 3.0
Tampa Bay- 5.0
Look at that, now MOST of the time the team in first is the one with the most wins, right?? Now MOST of the time, that team can be classified as the best team. I wont deny it, the Sox have been playing good ball this year. Better than the Yankees. However I wil also say, that being in 3rd in your division, 5 games behind, does not make you the best, or most dangerous or whatever ESPN wants them to be.
The Rays had a good run last year. A great run. They are a good team, I am not denying that. In another division they would probably be tearing it up, that goes for the Yankees too. However, it just so happens arguably the 3 best teams in the MLB are in the same division. Fighting for a play-off spot or a wild card spot.
So what if they have a lot of runs? If you don't have pitching or defense to back it up, it won't do you too well. I'm not saying they dont have that, but for some reason it is just not translating into wins for them. Whatever that reason is, you can't argue that numbers, the Red Sox are top dogsin the American League East. They have the most wins. The Rays do not. I have faith the Yankees will be taking that over shortly however and end up winning the AL east.
Theres my opinion. Anyone care to argue? Step right up.
