Devil Ray's Kazmir pitches Shutout ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Scott Kazmir kept the Florida Marlins guessing all day long. "He had it all going on," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said Sunday. "Fastball, slider, changeup. Both sides of the plate, up and down." Kazmir allowed four hits and matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts in eight innings, helping the Devil Rays beat Dontrelle Willis and the punchless Marlins 3-0 for the young left-hander's fifth straight win. At 22, Kazmir is the youngest major league pitcher to win seven games this early in a season since Fernando Valenzuela in 1981. Eat your Heart out New York...Kazmir rolls on with an 11 K Shutout... My waiver wire pick up wonder boy...is hitting his stride...

Re: Devil Ray's Kazmir pitches Shutout I'm not making up a rumor here but.... I think the Devil Rays will eventually try to get rid of him when he is value is high so that they can acquire a better player. What ever happened to their future franchise-player, Rocco Baldelli?

Re: Devil Ray's Kazmir pitches Shutout The Mets put a sure NLCS off with the genius trade of Kashmir for Zambrano. Its that bad of a trade...they might have put their franchise back 4 or 5 years. Those Mets, give em enough rope and theyll always make a noose.

Re: Devil Ray's Kazmir pitches Shutout Zambrano has just been a horrible pitcher here in New York. I cannot watch any games where he is on the mound. I don't want to experience a hard Mets' loss. I don't think Kazmir was that important for the Mets' organization. He never played for the Mets in his life and I don't think he ever will. Please take into consideration that even though he has a 7-2 record, he has a 12-12 overall record for his last two seasons combined.

Re: Devil Ray's Kazmir pitches Shutout The infamous Kazmir trade was an awful move by the previous regime but the one good thing it did was light a fire under ownership. The fan backlash was so large that they fired Duquette and brought back Omay Minaya who single handedly turned around the franchise. Beltran, Delgado, Pedro, Wagner, Nady, Lo Duca, Sanchez...along with Pelfrey and the guys here before such as Wright, Reyes, Glavine, Milledge, Anderson Hernandez...Mets are the NL favorites.
