Southpinellas: Rays on the bay?

The Tampa Bay Rays have developed a bold plan to build a $450-million downtown stadium that would give fans waterfront views and protection from rain.
The stadium, to be built on the site of Al Lang Field, would seat about 35,000 and could open as early as 2012. Hitters there would have a chance to send the ball into the bay.

I think it's a bad idea to leave them in St. Pete - they need to move the team to the Tampa side of the bay if they want optimum attendance....

I don't know anything about attendance and whatnot but would the taxpayers mind paying for a losing team?

Is Tampa, Rays or Marlins territory?

If they want a capacity crowd every night they should build a 5,000 seat stadium.

CW, Tropicana Field was not created for baseball. I believe it was already there when the DRays were created.

It's the worst field in the majors.
