The Rays are 34-53 and have lost 9 out of their last 10. My analysis of them is the same it has been since their first year.

Can anyone think of a reason that this franchise shouldn't fold?

It is so hard, so very hard, to think of anything positive to say about this franchise. I mean, they've never had a winning season, and even in their best year they were just 70-91. Four managers, zero award winners, zero league leaders, zero playoff appearances, no one's thrown a no-hitter, no one's hit for the cycle and the only time people seem to really get to talking about them is when one of their young up-and-comers has a mental meltdown or committs a crime. Sad, really.

But hey, at least they got a few good years out of Wade Boggs. They even retired his jersey!

Well, I don't see a line to close down the Clippers or the Detroit Lions for being a franchise with a sucky lifetime recorded (or in the Lions case a sucky 35 year span)

Come on, Goth. The Lions are four time NFL champions and won a division title as recently as 1993. The Clippers made it as far as the Conference Semifinals in 2005-06. Neither one of those franchises is even close to equalling the futility that is the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Clippers are the worse franhise in Sports bar none...The Lion's current reign of incompetence front office management would shame any sport...both are far worse in my book. By the way, how long ago was that last NFL championship? I would be willing to bet it takes the Devil Rays less years to win one.

40 years ago this year. So the D-Rays have 31 more years to win a World Series. At this rate, I can't see them smelling the playoffs for another decade though.

Hey - The Bucs were the worst of the NFL for 20 years before they started winning around 1996-1997, then they won the SB after the 2002 season....

The D-Rays have only been around for 10 years, let's cut them a little slack

Sorry Suedon. But every time I turn a Devil Rays game, I have an incredible urge to go to sleep. At least if they got a new outdoor ballpark, it would make them more exciting....
