The Rays aren't dropping just the Devil. As part of their switch to new blue-schemed uniforms, they have taken the Tampa Bay off their road jerseys in favor of their new Rays logo. They will, however, keep the TB on their caps. The uniforms are not expected to be unveiled until November but word of their look has been trickling out. -- St. Petersburg Times

Yep, and I guess ESPN called them and confirmed it. They will officially be the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008, dropping the Devil from their name.

I'm not shocked they got rid of those colors. I would imagine they weren't a big seller.


Now all they have to do is get some relief pitching.

Well, what I heard was they wanted to get rid of "Devil" and the argument they're using is, "Well, there are other kinds of Rays. Stingrays, etc."

The Rays need to drop just one Ray-Al Reyes! He has singlehandedly lost four games to Boston this season by blowing saves. As long as they keep putting pitchers like that in their uniforms, it won't matter what they are wearing.
