Lance Moore

The Bucs would do well to keep an eye on Lance Moore who is trying to earn a sport on the New Orleans roster as a wide receiver. At 5-9, 175# he's a long shot but he was the Saint's top receiver in the team's opening exhibition game.

Moore and Gradkowski both entered Toledo in 2001 but Moore was forced to play as a true freshman and his talents really weren't discovered until he hooked up with Bruce in 2003. These guys are close, having shared a house together, with a couple of other teammates at Toledo, and they've got chemistry on the field.

Lance and Bruce own just about every meaningful receiving and passing record at UT.

I'm mentioning all of this now because Lance, as I said is a long shot to make it with the Saints. The fact is, however, that he runs precise routes, knows how to get separation, catches everything thrown to him, and can grab the ball in heavy traffic.

When he does eventually hook on with a team that is not averse to going with a smaller receiver, Lance will be a very dependable go-to guy, but i'd really like to see him hook up with Bruce again.

At 5-9, 175 he better be the second coming of Wayne Chrebets...The Bucs though have a lot of talent at receiver...you got Galloway, Clayton and now the kid from Notre Dame Stovall...I am not sure there is a decent slot left for an under sized receiver...

It reminds me of Joe Montana and Kris Haines (his go to receiver at Notre Dame)...Haines had a few meaingless years in the NFl and a decent year or two in the USFL...but they never hooked up in the pros

I firmly believe that Moore, except for his lack of height, has all of the tools and athletic gifts to make it in the NFL, if he can last with a team through the pre-season. A strong performance this evening could go along way in fulfilling my faith in his abilities.

By the way, Lance has a younger brother, Nick, who is a 6-4 sophomore receiver on the Toledo team. We're hoping that he has the opportunity to take a shot at some of little-big brother's records.
