The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired Bucs head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen. Bucs executive vice president Joel Glazer will hold a press conference at One Buc Place this evening to field questions about the Bucs. PewterReport.com will have more on this story throughout the night.
“We will be forever grateful to Jon for bringing us the Super Bowl title, and we thank Bruce for his contributions to our franchise,” Glazer said in a statement released by the team this evening. “However after careful consideration, we feel that this decision is in the best interest of our organization moving forward.”

this is real big surprise to me .... i think Gruden is a great coach .. one of the best available right now

lets see .... he won a Super Bowl with the Bucs ..... who did he face in the Super Bowl ..... the Raiders ... a team he groomed and built ....... any coincidence they have sucked ever since he left ? (yeah except for that one season)

So he won with the talent pool Dungy had built.
And as Blackbeard will be quick to tell you, Gruden had no ability to develop young players. Especially quarterbacks. He always went for the older players.
He beat the Raiders because he knew what they were going to do. Callahan was too dumb to change anything. Raiders fell apart after that for some reason but not because Gruden wasnt there anymore.
Gruden was a hot shot flash in the pan. At least in the Bucs organization.
Defense is getting older.
Yeah, time for a change.

Lately? What has he done since 2002? Hasn't won a playoff game, backed into the playoffs twice. Each time getting spanked because his offense couldn't score. The second worst red zone scoring in the league. Blah...blah....I'm not going to waste my time any further. The guy severely underachieved for what we paid for him. His offense is stale, unimaginative and unproductive. Tony Dungy was fired for having a bad offense and not being able to win in the playoffs. Yet Gruden was never able to set a franchise scoring record that could score more than a Dungy led offense with Les Steckle as OC and Shaun king as QB? Please, Gruden is a fraud!!!!!!

I think he needed to go, Raheem Morris will be good, because the only thing Gruden was good at was stock piling QBs, but Tampa handled this awfully, but Gruden did need to go

Garcia's contract is expiring soon anyway. He will not be coming back. Even if Gruden hadn't been fired, Garcia wouldn't be returning.

True. he wasn't making it for the Buc's. I thought he was a great coach when he left Oakland, but he has not lived up to what I expected. They are probably lucky that he will be moving on. Now the next question is WHERE?

After the interview on 640 am with Tim Brown I believe the right thing was done. Tim had a personal relationship with Jon and he even said that Jon's head swelled to the point where he felt he was the smartest man in football today. In Oakland he was a Players coach he would ask the players what they wanted to do in certain situations. Tim Brown Said when he came to Tampa 1 yr after the Super bowl he and other players would make suggestions on some things to try. Jon would tell them to talk to the Hand because he was running this show there were other things said as well but I could not put them down here. It was the show called the Killer Bees on the radio if anyone wanted to here what was said it should be in yesterdays Archives
