I think it's probably very likely that Jon Gruden thought he knew everything about everything. It didn't translate to the Tampa team, though. I hated it. I thought he was going to do really great things at Tampa. I was angry that he left the Raiders, but I'm not anymore.

I think I heard that once before BucMan. And it makes sense and explains a lot. Everyone kept telling him how smart he was and guess he started to believe it. Hope this humbles him a bit and he becomes what he is supposed to be. Too late for the Bucs though.

I saw right threw Gruden. It took me a few years, and I bought the hype just like everyone else when he was first hired and took the team to the SB. But I realized in 2005 he was a fraud. Chris Simms career was hampered and maybe ruined by Gruden. He refused to run the shotgun offense for Simms. Gruden said he hated it and was dead set against it. Even quoted in the newspaoer once saying he'd rather quit coaching than run the shotgun.....errrrr that was until Garcia came along huh coach? Dead set against it? Garcia said he'd sign with Oakland if Jon wouldn't install the shotgun. Chris Simms had more batted passes than anyone, and they all came in Gruden's 3 and 1 step drop designed plays. What happens as soon as Simms loses his spleen? We haven't seen Gruden's 1 and 3 step drop since the day Gradkowski started. A good coach designs his plays and scheme to the strength of his players, not try hammer a square peg into a round hole and force your players to do things they couldn't do. Not giving Luke McCown a chance to see what he could do when it was clear Garcia and Griese were all done was just another example of Gruden's ego. Then the tip of the iceberg, and maybe the straw that broke the camel's back in the Glazers eyes, was making the decision 2 hours before the game to start Griese at Atlanta after Luke had taken all first team snaps the whole week in practice. What does Griese do in that game? Leads his offense past the 50 yard line only twice in 12 possessions. Good call "Offensive Genius."

Re: Thank GOD...Gruden is Fired!!!!

At this rate, he may have a little trouble getting another job...... maybe he could be a QB coach at a college somewhere.

I have to ask? Has he ever developed a QB? Tuiossosopo, Simms, Gradkowski, Luke McOwn......none of them made strides under Gruden.

Would you want to send your kid to a school coached by Gruden?

Nope. I am no fan of his. And I doubt his choice of staff as well.

I have to compliment you my freind you hit it dead on the head. Gruden was never the Offensive Genius he was labled to be and his dink and dunk play calling Ive never understood. In the Charger Game we had the ball at the 9 yrd line . Williams took it three yards on first down Why he called two pass plays after that Ill never know.he should of run it up the gut. instead of 7 we settled for 3 we would have won that game.

Well he accomplished a something.....he helped Matt Bryant break kicking records. It was absolutely frustrating and angering to know that if we didn't score a long TD from the 25 and out, we weren't scoring a TD when we got in the Red Zone. How are your little dink and dunk passes and your short crossing patterns supposed to accomplish anything with all those defenders concentrated in a small area. It was almost like Gruden didn't know the playing area reduces the closer you get to the endzone. I was at the Kansas City Chiefs game, and I was embarrassed. Thank GOD we pulled it out in the end. But another example of Gruden riding Monte Kiffin's coattails. Our first offensive TD came when Tanard Jackson forced a fumble on Kansas City's own 3 yard line. Clifton Smith's KO return for a TD and his punt return deep into KC territory in OT is what saved and won is that game. Gruden's offense couldn't do anything against that pathetic Chiefs defense. It was ridiculous.

I laugh when I hear other team's fans fantasizing about Gruden coming in and taking over their team. Careful what you wish for.

I doubt it, but stranger things have happened. I can't see Gruden's volatile and vulgar personality at Notre Dame. His dad was the RB's coach there a long time ago, but I just can't see it.

Re: Thank GOD...Gruden is Fired!!!!

Gruden publicly stated he wanted to coach this season, and nobody hired him? Scott Reynolds of PewterReport.com reported Gruden's phone was ringing off the hook. If it was, then when he answered he would have told all those would be suitors he wanted to coach this season before publicly stating so to a newspaper reporter. If anyone was calling him, it's probably because he was everyone's backup plan.

Funny how all the Gruden jock sniffers stated
he'd have a job the next day like Dungy, yet he's still unemployed. He wants to coach and there are no open jobs now with Haley going to KC. I believe 5 coaches were hired after Gruden was fired.
Then the Gruden groupies said Weiss would be fired, and Gruden already had the job the day after signing day.

Totally laughable to me. Gruden is a fraud, and everyone is finally realizing it.
