Re: Luke McCown torn ACL

Looks like it'll be Tim Rattay backing up Chris Simms in Tampa Bay this season as, according to this report, Luke McCown "will undergo surgery later this week to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. McCown was injured a week ago during a voluntary team workout without being touched, his knee giving way when he planted his right foot to scramble out of the pocket." McCown to Rattay - much of a drop off talent wise?

Actually I think its a surge in talent. Rattay is far better. TB just caught a break!

I second that. I like my boy Rattay. I didn't think he got a fair shake in San Fran...I might consider him over Simms as well.

Re: Luke McCown torn ACL

Luke did pretty good for Cleveland last year, though I do like Rattay too. I'd probably put them even talent-wise but give the ex-La. Tech-er an edge thanks to experience. McCown will be a good one, though, mark my words!

Cool Re: Luke McCown torn ACL

If it were Simms, that would be devasting. McGown or Rattay: 6 of one, 1/2 a dozen of the other.

I disagree. I thought Simms was outstanding last year. He was accurrate and didn't make many mistakes. As I've said before, I think he's better than Eli Manning. Just my opinion.

Funny I heard Isiah Thomas comment on the Simms/Manning comparison in the same manner...must be a NewYork thing...

Simms was okay...outstanding is a stretch...he was asked to manage a team...avoid mistakes, handoff to Caddie, and ride the Defense...Eli was asked to lead a team in New York City...Your New York Jet Green is showing their Pundit...I don't think they are in the same league yet...
