T stinking O

I certainly hope the Bucs aren't serious about considering getting Terrel Owens. I would think they learned thier lesson with Johnson. Owens is NOT a team player and people with EGO'S as big as his will NEVER contribute to team moral or sprit

TO, stinky indeed

Seriously now, since when has a really good player's personality or inability to team-play kept him from being hired? If it happens, we sure don't hear about it much. I agree that TO (BO?) doesn't belong in the sport, because he's just making pro athletes look worse than ever. Michael Irvin, TO, John Rocker -- good players all, but not off the field. And these are the guys kids are looking up to as role models? Sheesh.

The idea that John Rocker is a good player is certainly arguable...

As an Eagles fan, I say "good luck" to any team willing to put up with TO's garbage.

Eh...

Re: John Rocker: Ya gotta be a pretty good player to get to the Show, but when you look at it from a "medium-sized fish in a big pond" perspective, I suppose you're right. There certainly comes a point where general repugnance for a player overcomes talent, and both JR and TO have reached that point.

If I'm an owner, I would have to consider the consequences of TO taking a nutsy over something. You cannot look at him strictly based on talent. He has removed all doubt about his volatile attitude. I wouldn't want him because the risk would seem higher than the reward. He may give you one good year and then ruin the team the following year.

The problem is that everybody thinks that they can fix T.O. Guess what? They can't. Nobody can. He's the most physically talented WR in the league, and the problem is that he knows it. So he knows that he can pretty much do what he wants and someone will always be willing to deal with it, so long as he's catching TD passes for them.

But isn't that the problem with out-of-control athletes in general? You treat an athletically-talented kid like he's King of the Earth for years, and the odds are better than even that he'll eventually start to believe it. For every mega-talent like Michael Jordan or Troy Aikman, who stays somewhat humble and remembers that he's playing a team sport, you get at least one T.O. or Kobe Bryant, who's made so much money and gotten so much press that he's forgotten he's still human. Nonetheless, as long as he can perform, someone will give him a job.

I'm not so sure that the coaches and owners really think they can fix T.O.; I think they just don't care. Call me cynical, bt I believe that as soon as he gets hurt or is no longer useful, they'll drop him like yesterday's garbage. After all, look what happened to Bo Jackson, and he was a pretty nice guy. Hottest prospect in sports once upon a time, got multimillion dollar contracts to play two sports professionally, and all it took was an injury (admittedly a bad one) for the teams to start asking "Bo who?" And where is he now?
