| Garcia injurs leg ![]() Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia was carted off the practice field today with an apparent leg injury. WDAE has a photo showing Garcia, still wearing his helmet and shoulder pads, sitting next to a Bucs trainer in a golf cart. Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports that Garcia was injured during a non-contact drill. (We’re glad for the “non-contact” clarification. If Bucs coach Jon Gruden were putting Garcia through contact drills, he might as well hang a “Welcome Brett Favre” banner at Bucs camp.) ProFootballTalk.com - GARCIA SUFFERS LEG INJURY

“It’s not anything serious,” Gruden said. “Jeff will be day-to-day. The same goes for [defensive tackle] Jovan Haye. He’s got a groin strain, but fortunately neither injury is serious. They’ll be out for a few days. We’ll keep you updated.” Garcia, Haye Injuries Not Serious | Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Pewter Report |

| Re: Garcia injurs leg jeff will be fine, he is coming into his second season with TB and for the first time in like 7 years with the same team. he knows grudens system, and if u trade for favre, then automatically u have to give him half of head coaching rights. reason i say this is, bret will not understand the gruden lingo within the first few months, so it will basically be gruden call 3 plays, bret check down and if they are not there, he becomes peyton manning and audibles everything that gruden throws him. i could see this happening. now can bret do that? if anyone can it would be the gunslinger himself. but just a few things to think about. and why is green bay so hung on aaron rodgers anyway. they could trade him get value, and stick with favre for 2 more years, and then u have this guy named brian brohm u just drafted, who in my opinion could be better than rodgers right now. u give brohm 2 years behind favre, and lambeu is bringing home superbowls again. |

| Re: Garcia injurs leg it looks like its a battle between luke mckown and brain griese. right now luke has the edge, but has made some key mistakes again in training camp. veteran griese has won with the bucs in the past. '05 they won the division. they have guaranteed a spot for rookie josh johnson and that leaves him and chris simms to battle out for 3rd string. they have been trying to do something with simms for awhile, but they cant get much for him, as he has not proved anything, plus coming off a serious spleen injury. they missed on favre, obviously green bay did not want to trade him to a team within the division or a team they had to play. tampa offered him brian griese and conditional 3rd round pick (which could result in 2nd rounder if they make playoffs and 1st rounder if they make super bowl). the jets only had to give the packers a conditonal 4th rounder with the same stipulations. crazy drama took me on a roller coaster ride. its kinda weird for jeff garcia tho, i think he will emerge once again as a leader for this team tho. hit me back! |

| Re: Garcia injurs leg they just played the first preseson game and no jeff garcia. no surprise tho, as he might not play until the final preseason game. never know tho, but dont think they would use him until at least 3rd game. all qbs did well, simms came in in 2nd half and looked good. they started luke mccown, and brian griese came in in 2nd quarter and drove em for a late td, mostly tho on stubborn run plays that were stuffed, and 4th and shorts being converted. jeff will be there for the regular season opener tho. |
