| Mike Alstott Retires Alstott has called it a career after several injuries, most notably a neck injury that forced him to miss all of this season. For a few years in Tampa, he was their #1 back and he was pretty damn good. At least he has a Super Bowl ring to show for his efforts. Alstott was last of a vanishing breed -- baltimoresun.com |

| Re: Mike Alstott Retires Last of a vanishing breed is right. I'm gonna miss the big, pound-it-up-the-gut kind of running back. Although, New England has a guy like this in Evans, if they'd use him more often. Any way you slice it, Alstott is in no way a Hall of Famer or anything. But like the Christian Okoyes and Marion Buttses of the world, he deserves a special place in any discussion on football history.

| Mike Alstott retires ![]() Bucs announced FB Mike Alstott's retirement. The greatest touchdown vulture of them all had serious neck problems and wasn't in the Bucs' plans for 2008 after sitting out all of last season. Alstott was a top-22 fantasy back in six of his first seven years because of his red-zone efficiency. He scored four times during Tampa's 2002 Super Bowl run, and finishes as the Bucs' all-time leader in TDs. Alstott isn't Hall of Fame material, but the Bucs may create a Ring of Honor this year to recognize him. Mike Alstott |
