| Bucs to take hard line with Plummer? GM Bruce Allen said Thursday that Jake Plummer's failure to report will prompt the team to place him on the reserved/did not report list today, when the Bucs hold their first practice. From here, the Bucs could pursue a prorated amount of Plummer's signing bonus - believed to be about $7-million - though that process likely wouldn't begin until after the season starts. Still, the Bucs haven't closed the book on Plummer. Coach Jon Gruden revealed Thursday he traveled to Idaho for a face-to-face meeting after a minicamp in June, taking his wife, Cindy, with him. But while the Bucs are, on one hand, leaving the invitation open, they are showing signs of their intention to take a hard line with Plummer. "There are consequences to not reporting to camp," Allen said. "We will treat him like any other person that would hold out from our camp." -- St. Petersburg Times Bucs: Plummer soap opera continuing |

Yeah, and doesn't that give a bad image of what a signing bonus is?...It's suppose to be the one way you get guarenteed monies in the NFL...take it away and what do you have? |

| Re: Bucs to take hard line with Plummer? This is a time that Goodell should step in and give the Bucs a reality check. Tell them to just let it go. They traded for a guy that was a starting QB. He was not happy being a back up. He saw he had no chance and retired. They can not sue him to make him play. They can't get back money that some other team paid him. Goodell should stop this.

| Re: Bucs to take hard line with Plummer? I'm telling ya, it's been bad since Rich McKay left & Bruce Allen took over with repect to the manner in which they treated their veteran players. I agree that they just need to let Plummer go, it's so ridiculous to continue this hounding. |

With regard to Simeon Rice, many fans hope that Allen & Gruden were right to release him, because if he gets healthy and is picked up by another team and records 15 sacks, there will be a lot of Bucs fans (myself included) that will be ☻☻☻☻ed! |
