| Bucks Stadium to get 2.1 Million Bucs Stadium To Get $2.1 Million For Super Bowl Improvements Last Edited: Tuesday, 17 Apr 2007, 8:36 AM CDTCreated: Tuesday, 17 Apr 2007, 8:36 AM CDTCredit: MyFoxBy The Associated Press TAMPA, Fla. -- The home stadium of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is expected be get $2.1 million in improvements to prepare for the 2009 Super Bowl. Many of the improvements at Raymond James Stadium would have been needed anyway in the next few years, Tampa Sports Authority Executive Director Henry Saavedra said Monday. "Just as with your house, every 20 years you have to redo the roof," he said. The improvements would be funded by money from the Community Investment Tax, a levy that also pays for roads and schools, The Tampa Tribune reported. One of the most notable additions would be 1,100 high-definition televisions that would let fans watch the game, even when they leave their seats. Other improvements would include new carpet in the locker rooms and new icemakers in the stadium's 195 suites. The upgrades would cost about $900,000. Another $200,000 would be set aside for additional upgrades the NFL might mandate. About $1 million could be spent on other projects, like repainting a pedestrian bridge, replacing light fixtures and upgrading the stadium's security and phone systems. ------ Information from: The Tampa Tribune, http://www.tampatrib.com
