Defensive end Kevin Carter signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Free-agent defensive end Kevin Carter signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

Carter is fourth among active players with 97.5 career sacks and has not missed a game in 12 seasons with the Titans, Rams and Dolphins, who released him last week after he was unable to reach an agreement on a restructured contract.

The 34-year-old has played in 192 consecutive games since entering the league with the Rams as the sixth overall pick in the 1995 draft. He spent the last two seasons with the Dolphins and had 5.5 sacks and recovered two fumbles in 2006.

I'm just dropping by the forum to congratulate you guys on a great pick-up in Kevin Carter!! As a huge Fins fan, I am REALLY going to miss having him around!! He is such an animal on the field, and a stand-up guy off the field. He's an eloquent speaker, top notch athlete and a true all-around leader!!

I so wish the Dolphins organization could have found a way to keep him on the roster, but now that he's a Buc, I will be sure to follow them more closely now, to see his progress.
