But Dungy didn't win - Gruden did. I was really disappointed in the game Dungy coached against the Steelers. He didn't even have full control of the team. Manning seemed to be the coach when he sent the punting team off the field. Question for everyone: Do you blame Dungy for giving the starters too much rest before the playoffs started so they were out of sync in the playoffs. 2) Do you blame Dungy for not making offensive adjustments when the Steelers were kicking the crap out of Manning? Example: He could have tried giving the ball to Edgerin or throwing shorter like they did at the beginning of the year when teams were playing 10 DB's against them. Or do we give him a pass because of that terrible tragedy he experienced? I hate to judge anyone off an event like that but I'm starting to get the feeling that Dungy is the kind of coach who can turn a program around but can't win the big game.

Re: Best Buccaneers Coach Gruden was lucky. His team doesn't win that Super Bowl unless he's playing his ex-team and his ex-offensive coordinator, who I'm sure you all will recall didn't have the good sense to change the playbook. If his team didn't know the play calls, they don't win that game. Dungy was and is a better coach. Last edited by Lefty Noob : 03-13-2006 at 06:21 PM.

So Dungy set it up for Gruden? Fair enough. Following that logic, did Gruden not set up a Super Bowl appearance for Calahan with Oakland? So Gruden had 2 teams in the same Superbowl....Pretty impressive. You can't have it both ways. It's close but after watching Dungy coach an awful game against Pittsburgh, I personally would take Gruden.

| Re: Best Buccaneers Coach Chucky! Gotta go with Chucky! Dungy has proven little more than he knows how to uninspire a team come crunch time a lot like Andy Reid. Now, if the Buccaneers had beaten the Rams in the 2000 NFC championship with Shaun King at QB, i'd probably go with Dungy. Of course, Dungy might still be the head at Tampa Bay and the question would go unasked...

Re: Best Buccaneers Coach Thanks for the names of the coaches. And yes I agree with you fully - Tony Dungy is A#1. That was Tony's team that won the Super Bowl. And anyone who thinks differently should take a good look at what Gruden did after he won the Super Bowl via Tony. He fired or let go all the players who won that Super Bowl - who in there right mind would do something like that? And what have they done since? Gruden's problem is his EGO - somebody told him he was coach material and he believed it. The only way the Bucs are ever going to be anything is IF they get rid of Gruden. Has anyone noticed how the Glasers are no longer in the picture? Where is that patting Gruden on the back of all his good work? I live in the Tampa Bay area and you do not even see them on TV touting their team. They used to be on TV all the time, are they in hiding? I know I would be if I owned the Bucs. But wait - if I owned the Bucs - Tony would still be coach and the Bucs would be in the playoff right now.
