Re: John Gruden gone to ALABAMA? This time the offer comes from an attractive conference the SEC where competition is the only thing that matters. Gruden is stuck in Tampa Bay with aging players who are unmotivated and overpaid. A fresh start at Alabama would bolster his confidence in his own abilities and give him the opportunity to enjoy football instead of it being just another job. As far as Notre Dame the situation wasn't right and he still had aspirations of another superbowl with the Buccaneers. As they say "What have you done for me lately?" Gruden needs to be appreciated for his talents and ALABAMA Fans are the most Die-Hard appreciative fans in football. Overall it just makes sense for all involved... It would also allow Tampa to go in a different direction it would serve as a wake up call to GMs and owners alike. If you don't take care of the coaches and allow them more say so they will say GOOD BYE!

Re: John Gruden gone to ALABAMA? ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!! Hey John Gruden I know you wish you were in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten, look away, look away, Tampa Bay... You know he could get 3 milllion a year have a cush job and mold young boys into men. Each year he would have fresh legs to play for him without the pressure of free agency. He could concentrate on winning a National Championship in the SEC and playing in the BCS year in and year out.

Re: John Gruden gone to ALABAMA? Notre Dame got turned down because The Catholics were not willing to pony up to the table money-wise. Besides ND doesn't have as many National titles, as a matter of fact they stole one from Alabama in 1966. The facts speak for themselves Alabama had won two National titles in a row and went undefeated in there bid to three-peat. The news media had its catholic contiengency voted to give it to ND because the came back to tie Michigan. Tie -vs- Undefeated so they stole one. Alabama is one of the ND's most hated rivals that is why they have ducked Alabama saying they didn't play in bowl games. Well now they do ... and they still turned down Alabama when they offered to make them a yearly out of conference game. So considering the history Alabama is steeped in as rich of a tradition as any of the top college programs. Gruden has gone 3-10 and Alabama looks like a fresh start.

Re: John Gruden gone to ALABAMA? Gruden has not come out and said no to Alabama and with each loss and a long offseason looming in his future he may just give them a serious look. The fact that something has gone strangely silent in Tuscaloosa is very interesting.... perhaps the quiet before the storm?

Re: John Gruden gone to ALABAMA? Stoney, you're an idiot. If gruden wants to go to alabama, adios. The problem in tampa is He has too much control, and he has no idea how to manage young players. Judging from where you live I guess you don't follow the bucs. And I'm sorry but when was the last time alabama mattered? And finally, not very many successfull NFL head coaches leave the NFL to pursue a college career, it's usually the other way around.

Last time I checked Gruden was "NOT" the GM or Owner of the team. So that crap about control is just that crap. Did you ever stop to consider that Gruden doesn't have Superbowl talent on his team? He has way too many aging veterans in key positions. For the most part they are lazy unmovitated overpaid injury prone atheletes. His young talent is talentless and he has to bear the brunt for someone elses draft picks. Last time I looked Gruden was on the sideline and not on the field playing the game. Next you show little respect to the All-time National Title holding program in college football. If you live on the Gulf Coast and actually followed the SEC you would understand what competitive fires burn in these programs. Mike Shula didn't know how to coach or manage the game clock that's what got him fired "Nice Guy" but he was in over his head. Good recruits are already there at the program just looking for the right someone to lead them to another BCS Championship.. Oh yeah you must not pay too close attention to how many top notch guys leave the NOT FOR LONG League to go coach college ball. Seems that Pete Carroll and Charlie Weiss recently made the move and have enjoyed great success. The NFL couldn't lure them back right now. I can understand why Gruden would consider a move to the college ranks. It is much less pressure with greater rewards and you don't have to deal with a bunch of spoiled athletes. At least at Alabama he could have the Lightning to go with the Thunder he could instill discipline as he saw fit. It is tough to coach in the NFL a world that says what have you done for me lately? Only one team gets to claim the Superbowl trophy and God help you if your team doesn't even get a sniff of the playoffs. So get your facts straight before you post... |
