Syracuse Coach Robinson on Hot Seat?

Sportsnipe says Syracuse football coach Greg Robinson is the top Big East coach when it comes to being on the hot seat and worrying about his job.

"To say that the pressure is on Greg Robinson might be an understatement considering his 1-10 record in his first season and a 4-8 record in his second season. His offense has finished at the bottom of the Big East both years in total offense. And the defense came out the same both years as well. So what does he have to do to keep his job? At least one upset of the big three in the conference plus a bowl appearance should keep his job. But considering his predecessor, it still might not be enough."

So an upset against Louisville, West Virginia or Rutgers or a bowl birth may be enough to save Robinson's job. Does anyone think that still won't be enough barring a very successful season (8-9 wins)?

Re: Syracuse Coach Robinson on Hot Seat?

If he can get them to a bowl game and beats at least one of those three teams, I think he's safe. But I don't think that'll happen.

neither do I he really hasnt moved this program forward at all and thats where they wanted it to go.

Im predicting a 5-7 season from the Orange with no upsets really just getting the wins they should get.......unless Brinkley and Carter decide to become a great 1-2 punch which i think they have potential to be....i see another lackluster season for the Orange.

That sounds about right to me. My question is, would this team be better is Pasqualoni was still coaching them?

It's not like they would be worse if Pasqual was still around.

If they have a season like Tex predicts, Robinson could/should be kicked out.

Re: Syracuse Coach Robinson on Hot Seat?

Rivals.com has a good bit on Robinson in their article Rivals.com College Football - Coaching seats are heating up for some:
"History shows Syracuse boosters don't take losing lightly. The Orange has lost 13 of 14 Big East Conference games under Robinson. Paul Pasqualoni, whom Robinson replaced, only endured one losing season in 14 years. Pasqualoni was fired three seasons after directing the Orange to a 10-3 finish and a bowl appearance. Syracuse, which is 5-18 in Robinson's brief tenure, has never had a coach preside over three consecutive losing seasons. Perhaps the Orange progressed with four victories in 2006, but Syracuse still ranked 110th nationally in total offense and 107th in total defense."

Re: Syracuse Coach Robinson on Hot Seat?

Robinson is now 5-20 as Syracuse coach. His club is 0-2; the rest of the conference is 14-0. How much longer does he have?

Re: Syracuse Coach Robinson on Hot Seat?

It may not be right to fire him right now, but he's got a ticket out of NY come December.
