Gerry McNamara

Okay is this guy for real? He is definitely clutch but is he a true blue star? Coach Boheim defended him like he was his son the other day and then the next day he picked off Georgetown. This is defintely gonna be a great game against Pitt. McNamara if not a true blue college basketball talent is defnitely good for drama.

Re: Gerry McNamara

McNamara is definitely a stud. He has upped his production in the Big East Tourney, and without him they would not be going to the big dance. They came into NY on the bubble, and they are going to leave with a bid to the big dance.

He is really spreading the ball around and getting everyone involved.

Re: Gerry McNamara

I think after his freshman year where he was hitting open three's all season, people made him out to be somebody he wasn't. Very, very good college player, but it seemed as if people were prepared to hand him the Naismith after Camelo left for the pros. He may or may not have been ready for that, or he may have just gone back to the player he probably should have been.

With all the attention opposing defenses put on Anthony in the post, McNamara was able to spot up and do what he does best, excel at the perimeter game. But he is what he is, a fine college player, who frankly probably never claimed to be an All-American type player. I do find it rather curious for a group of assistant coaches to even answer the question about the most overrated player in the Big East. Show a little class, they're kids.

Re: Gerry McNamara

You're right, he may not be an All-American. But 17 ppg and 7 apg in the Big East is nothing to frown at. Those are solid numbers in the best basketball conference in the country.

Re: Gerry McNamara

I was at MSG for the Big East title game and he very well might be the most celebrated basketball player to ever play for the Cuse, especially after those four games he had to get the automatic bid. The Orange fans are completely and utterly obnoxious as they overreact to everything he does. If he can make people act that absurdly he must be doing something right.
