Minor League Baseball Forum

I would really like to have a minor league baseball forum on GTG. We wouldn't need a forum for every team or anything, but maybe just one forum above the baseball section where it says baseball general and fantasy baseball. Just a general minor league baseball forum.

The minor leagues is a big part of baseball. Almost every player goes through it before the MLB unlike the NBA and the NFL. In baseball even top draft picks find their way in a minor league dugout at some point in their career. That is why I think it would be good to have one and be able to talk about promising players and other aspects, like how teams are doing. It could also be used to show how previous major leaguers who were sent down are doing in the minor leagues, or those who are coming off an injury.

It wouldn't be unfair to other sport forums on GTG if baseball had a minor league forum, because in other sports like NBA and NFL, the minor leagues are not the same.

I'm pretty sure that GTG will not be adding this forum unless they know there will be support and posters. So please, if you have interest in this respond by saying, "support". I will then add you to the support list, hopefully it grows, and hopefully goteamsgo will one day have a minor league baseball forum.

Please don't only vote on this poll. Also respond with either "support" or say you disagree. That way I can add your name to the list.

Re: Minor League Baseball Forum

I'm in favor of this because of the reasoning that Full Cougar is applying to the request. As for College baseball we do have a college sports forum for that so I would try to keep the two separate from one another.

My only other stipulation with this idea is that a moderator needs to be in place the moment that this forum opens .... if it does. So consider this when you get excited about it. If you are a follower of minor league then this is your chance.

I deffenitley would be the moderator if you needed one, we still need more support though to get the forum in the first place.

Re: Minor League Baseball Forum

I'm not gonna vote because I really don't follow the minors that much, though I do go to the local team's games from time to time...

BUT: I'd suggest whoever votes "yes" should be able to name their minor league team .. you know, the one(s) that your favorite MLB team is affiliated with. For instance my minor league team is the Round Rock Express, a farm club of the Houston Astros (not that the Astros are my favorite MLB team.)

I would definitely like minor league baseball on here, and minor league lacrosse, hockey, etc. I live in Rochester, NY where we have plenty of minor league teams. Our one ABA (the old school one) team was stolen by Sacto so ... I love our teams. Go minor leagues!

Are you close to any NY-Penn league activities ? It's class "A" baseball.

Re: Minor League Baseball Forum

I dont know baseball from tiddly winks but heres my thought.
I voted yes.
If I understand correctly, the major league players come from the minor leagues, right. For the NFL guess you could say their minor league is college. Look at how big the Draft is and the Combine.
Thats how we get our look at the players and what they can do.
So why not a minor league forum. Our baseball forum is picking up. How else can fans keep track of who is doing what unless they can follow the minor league forum.
I also have two mods in mind to do this. I think it should have two.

Re: Minor League Baseball Forum

I would vote yes! I think it could be fun, and we could even talk up the best players from our area.

My local team is the Wilmington, DE Blue Rocks.

Johnny Damon is probably the most famous Blue Rock, but there have been a few others.

Wilmington Blue Rocks Official Site

Single A team.
