This is fraud. selling a product that is either fake or something you dont have, and taking the money and not shipping. GTG Forums would have to monitor every sale that was happening so that the buyer or seller did not get ripped off. If that were to happen, (hypothetically) GTG would technically be held responsible because the transaction took palce on their board so that means either buyer or seller could sue GTG forums for letting it happen. I dont think GTG wants to get into that. I say it's best to let those two people do the transaction personally through paypal. dont do it here. |
Exactly why I think the best way to do something like this is to provide the "cork board" on which to place the notice, and to require all aspects of the transaction to be outside GTG. The rule of thumb is always: "Buyer Beware!"
The only additional action on GTG's part would be to ban any user accused of fraud in one of these transactions. And we'd have to use the legal definition of fraud, not that the seller didn't ship it quickly enough or charged too much for shipping or the buyer backed out or something similar.
Right now we have the "Wanted" Forum which is half of the Classified idea. But it's not getting much action. If it continues to stay that way, it'll be the death knell for the Classified Forum idea.
