Block unregisterd people from posting?

Just a suggestion, but I think you should totally block anyone who is not registered from posting.
A perfect example of how bad this is to let them post, can be found in this thread:

http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/nasca...ssed-away.html

A family member shouldn't have to come here to defend her deceased brother,
because one or more ignorant cowards post crap like that as unregistered.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but when I read all that, it bothered me.

Number one this poster is registered. How can we verify what anyone posts ??? Either you accept what someone has to say or you merely discount it. The choice is yours. Nothing in that post was against our rules. The unregistered posters made comments that did not violate our forum rules. We do allow unregistered posters to post but with the stipulation that a moderator approves the posts. Like it or not there was nothing wrong with the posts. They were opinions ... right or wrong.

Those posts were from nearly a month ago. A NASCAR mod should have definitely erased those comments.

The post that was made last was theoretically from a relative by a registered poster. Should we delete all posts we suspect as not true ??? Who will be responsible for making that decision ??? I say let them stand and if you believe them to be untrue that is your judgement call.

He's talking about the unregistered posters in the thread who are speculating on the cause of death.

Re: Block unregisterd people from posting.

LSC9901, I think you completely misunderstood my point. I was talking about the posts made by "unregistered", not by the family member. And I never suggested deleting the posts, just to not let unregistered people post here.

Look at it this way, if you will. If unregistered people couldn't post here, then none of those posts would be there. BethE may or may not have posted at all. But since they were there, she felt the need to register and defend her brother. Had they not been there, her post would just be to thank all the good people here who posted about her brother in a respectful way.

Let me just say first, I don't know who Christian Elder was. So I don't know the story behind his death and what not. However, looking over the three unregistered posts...I would have deleted only one. The one saying he passed away due to aids.

As long as that was never assumed or believed to have been true, that's a strong accusation to make.

She "found" those posts by doing a search on obits. Yes, she registered to defend her brother, but that doesn't mean she would have posted anything at all, if there were only "good" posts.
