Re: Request a New Forum Here

It's going on a couple weeks since the VIP Forum was announced, but we aren't getting many requests for membership.

If you're afraid of getting overwhelmed by advertising email, forget it. I'm managing that and at the moment we only have one advertiser and she isn't interested in any kind of email campaign. We have another advertiser scheduled to come onboard in the next couple weeks who also isn't currently interested in an email campaign. A third advertiser is interested in several of our advertising opportunities, including the email campaign and is the one who helped us structure our advertising offerings. This third advertiser is a major player and we are lucky they are considering advertising at our site. But like many places, the economy is playing havoc with their plans, so we are waiting while they get their plans sorted out.

One of the purposes of the VIP forum is to drive advertising at GTG, helping us ensure the site pays it's own way and isn't a drain on the owner's wallet. But, without a significant percentage of the total number of GoTeamsGo members signed up, any email campaign is not financially justified for an advertiser. Also any targeted banner ads in the VIP Forum (the most expensive advertising we offer) will also not happen.

We're having some good discussions in the VIP forums about various subjects .. most of which don't have an equivalent thread anywhere else.

Put all this together and there's very few reasons not to join the VIP Forum. Besides, it's FREE!

Re: Request a New Forum Here

Hell, I see the forums on the front page, and it doesn't look like there are any posts in them.

I thought maybe there was just a hold up!

Sign me up.

I think folks that are not subscribed are seeing the same thing I am. Where itlists posts and views it just says "never", so the forums look like they aren't active yet!

I know you had the announcement, but it just seemed like nothing with happening!

one of the many peculiarities of the forum software .. if you aren't authorized to get in the forum It won't tell you anything about it other than it's there..

go to the announcement .. it tells you how to sign up. (sorry for the "company talk", but we need to follow our process or some of will get lost pretty quick )

I'd like a forum for minor league baseball.

I think that would be cool too. It came up before but hype for it died down.

Re: Request a New Forum Here

I usually go on the computer that doesn't have spell check already listed on there. Is there any way that Goteamsgo could have spell check as part of the site without having to download it?

I think I've seen it on other sites.

GoTeamsGo is a forum that is owned by an absent owner. Therefore, has old software. We wish we could update it, but right now we don't have enough funds. We are trying though.

Because of this, I am not sure if we could do an on-site spell check.

Maybe LSC or Racer Duck could give you a better answer however.

They tried to tell me a long time ago there was spell check on this forum but I could never find it.
My browser, Foxfire, has it so I finally gave up looking for it.
I will address this issue in the Admins forum. Maybe someone smarter than I can help us.

This is what I have found out.
There are two types of spell check on the site. With one, if you misspell a word, it is underlined in red.
For the other, there is a little box with abc and a checkmark in it in the upper right corner. But you have to download the spell checker.
I have a feeling this isnt going to solve your problem.
When I use Foxfire, I get the little red line.
But when I use IE (seldom do) I see the abc/check box.
As Cougar said, our software is somewhat dated.

I have been further enlightened and its in the browser, not the software.
