Re: A forum for non-sports material? Switching gears a bit, did anyone else watch Sopranos last night (Episode 6.2: Join The Club)? Disclaimer: If you did not watch it and still intend on doing so, their probably will be some spoilers in the following post. People tend to complain about them because they lack commercial appeal, but I loved the dream episodes and particularly enjoyed the sequence that Tony was experiencing while in his coma. The common perception seems to be he was in purgatory. I prefer to believe it was hell. Tony prides himself on self-reliance and the personal freedeoms he experiences that most of us do not because we are not willing to resort to the lowest common denominator. In the dream sequence he was being pushed around by hotel employees, was slapped in the face by a monk, did not get the girl, endured some lame joke from a patron at a hotel bar when he was already agitated and was generally too complaiscant towards everyone's hang-ups. I don't know, it seems like this past episode could have been interpreted several different ways. There were just layers upon layers of subtext in this episode (much like every episode). And going back one week to the season premiere where they opened up with a poem for William Burroughs' The Western Lands entitled "Seven Souls". When they showed AJ the narration from "Seven Souls" proclaimed the sould that AJ represents was the only sould that would act on behalf of Tony (in so many words), then AJ tells his Dad while in the coma that he is going to avenge his Dad's shooting and kill Uncle Junior by saying "I'm going to put a bullet in his f*#!ing mummy head". So apparently that entire introduction was foreshadowing for the conclusion of The Sopranos. Very interesting plot lines set up for this sixth and final season. Anyone else have any thoughts? Sorry for rambling, I probably have an unhealthy obsession with this series.

Re: A forum for non-sports material? The Shield is alright, too much of that bald guy intimidating perps though. It seems a little redundant. A great show on FX is Rescue Me. It is similar to The Sopranos, but with New York fireman instead of mobsters. The third season starts this summer, I recommend renting/purchasing the DVD's for the past two before watching the new season if you intend to do so.

Re: A forum for non-sports material? Thanks for the info, I've never heard anybody really talking about "Rescue Me", I will have to check it out. That's Denis Leary, right? Does he play a decent guy, or is he an a##? How about music, what does anybody like? I like all kinds of music: alternative, dance, indie, metal, rap and some country as long as it's not lying, dying, crying in my beer stuff.

Re: A forum for non-sports material? Dennis Leary is a good intentioned p#!*k, I cannot think of any better way to summarize his character. the first season will probably be the pinacle of the series though, just the perfect mix of drama, comedy and character development. But still, its no Sopranos. Music has always struck me as the most subjective art form, at least in the sense that individuals sensibilities are more eclectic when it comes to music as opposed to film, television, literature etc. But some atypical musical acts I have grown fond of are: Television: This band from the 70's that I do not believe released more than a couple albums. Judging by their album cover it looks like they all died of overdose. Ghostface Killah: The Rap genre seems to be love it or hate it for most people. But he has two phenomenal albums entitled Supreme Clientele and what I think is possibly the best rap album ever made (certainly the most underrated) in Bulletproof Wallets. Unquestionably the best lyricist in Wu-Tang Clan. Kings of Leon: This band has really picked up steam and made a name for themselves so I guess they are not necesarily atypical. But their debut album I particularly enjoy. For the most part I listen to Classic Rock though.
