Detroit wins the Cup

They did it.
Did you know that Lidstrom is the first European captain to take a team to the stanley Cup finals and win?
I did not know that.
They were the best, they deserved it, Zetterberg gets the Con Smythe trophy.
Fleury should have been standing right beside him but oh well.
3-2 final.
Rafalski, Filppula, and Zetterberg scored for Steel Town, Malkin and Hossa for the Penguins.
I'm wondering how long it's been since the President's Cup winner for the season has actually gone on to win the Cup (last year's winner was Buffalo).

just one more thing - Lidstrom and Zetterberg are the only Europeans to have won the Conn Smythe trophy - Lidstrom won in 2002.

Yes they did. Man, as good as I thought the Pens were, the Wings were in a whole 'nother league.
I definitely feel for Fleury. I don't think there was a single player on either side who was better or more valuable. His teammates let him down.

Re: Detroit wins the Cup

Yeah, I guess the Conn Smythe has to go to the MVP from the winning team. Zetterberg is no slouch but the first thing I thought when i saw the cover of the paper this morning was, Fleury should be given the MVP of the playoffs and it's too bad he didn't.
