how the west looks

so red wings clinch the first playoff spot because they are at 100 points.
sharks - 10-0-0 - a force to be reckoned with, at 90 points
avalanche 84 (heading the northwest division), 8-2-0 last ten games
stars 89
ducks 88
wild 82
flames 82 - they keep losing (5-3-2 last 10 games), they used to head the NW but now the avs and the wild have pulled ahead
canucks 80 - battling for this spot, 4-4-2 last 10 played. preds and coyotes breathing down their neck.
that's the top 8 as of Friday march 14.
then we have
preds 78
coyotes 77
bluejackets 73
oilers 73 - 7-2-0 last 10 played, that's not bad.
blackhawks 73
blues 69 done like dinner
kings 62 ditto

Re: how the west looks

the west is claimed:
Detroit
san jose
minnesota
anaheim
dallas
colorado
calgary
nashville
there could still be movement within the bottom 3 but these are the eight teams to secure playoff berths.
I shake my head at vancouver.

Re: how the west looks

I wonder what happened? Did Luongo have a bad season? Did they just not have the scoring?

Re: how the west looks

The most i ever heard throughout the season re Vancouver was, lack of scoring. Linden was a healthy scratch for far too long - 12 points (58 games played) this season.
55 point year for naslund (so-so), and the Sedin twins were 84 (Daniel) and 76 (Henrik). Kesler and Pyatt had 37 each, nothing to scream about.
Luongo was not the problem but with 35 wins 28 losses and 6 shutouts (great), his year could have been better.
They just seemed to have a lot of holes in the boat, you know?
